I found bear shit in my yard.
Alongside a disemboweled trash can.

I feel like I'm living in a riddle.

2. No, it's a small town in the Poconos.
If I find red suspenders in the yard I'm moving.

30. Bears are omnivorous -- you can't get more catholic than that.
Oh, you meant "big C" ...

3. My sister has a bear on her island cottage. I hate bears so I did some research
when she first moved up there. I found out on the internet that black bears are afraid of grizzly bear shit . Since she had a black bear I suggested she stop by the zoo on the way up to her cottage and get some polar bear shit. LOL!

4. That's interesting. These are black bears.
A mother and two cubs. Last year the cat ran at them and they took off.

21. I worked at a cabin in the mountains. One day the rangers came to the teahouse
and removed all of our customers because they had a female grizzly in the area that they had shot but she got away with her cubs. My boss and coworkers went with the customers because it was their day off. They said to me to stay because someone had to watch the turkey cooking in the oven. So I spent the night all by myself in a log cabin worried a grizzly was going to be attracted by the turkey smell. I couldn't sleep. And the worst part of it was that a few years before a neighbour's (neighbour to my parents) grandson was mauled and killed by a rogue black bear. So I was sensitized to the idea of a murderous rogue bear. And I watched that old man, the neighbour, try to deal with the death of his grandson for years. He even had inquest into the matter a few years later. So I hate bears. My sister isn't obviously. She would go hiking in the same mountains and say..oh I was in a bowl of a Skoki valley and I could see three grizzlies along the treeline..... it was such a beautiful day...... (and I'd want to grab her and shake her). I really hate bears.

24. Actually I don't know if the bear killed the kid before or after I worked at the teahouse.
Still that double set of events made me hate bears.

6. Might wanna call Fish and Game agency in your area and ask if they have a bear specialist
Some mountain communities are using people skilled at harassing bears who start getting too comfy in human 'hoods. In the long run, it generally saves the bears' lives to be harassed into moving away from people

Get better trash containers and maybe put them in cages or shed? Ask the Fish & Game people for advice on where to get bear-proof lockers for trash cans. Remember the old saying: A fed bear is a dead bear.

Definitely don't want a repeat.

10. sadly, that is what usually happens when they get used to living off what people leave around
Like I said, a fed bear is a dead bear.

There are people whose job it is to harass them. But it only works if the bear's career as a bum around people is in early stage.

I love bears, but they gotta stay wild and in the wild. No good outcomes when they get too comfy in our company.

27. i used to live in tenn bear country
you want to live in harmony with the nature but the nature thinks that that means you agree with the food tree game
i called the game people as you did and was rewarded for my concern as you were by the deaths of the bears
secure the can
if you must go and get one that is difficult for you to open
light the area bears travel mostly at night and avoid lit areas
motion detector lights work best for me i hate to have lights on in my yard it blocks the stars
go to home depot and talk to the lighting guys they have solar cell units on motion detection so no wiring need be done
just try to kill the bear as a last resort if all else fails

22. Bears kept getting into the grade school dumpster awhile back.
So the game management folks brought a big cage kinda thing to trap them. They used doughnuts for bait. Every morning they would come by and a state policeman would be inside. True story.

14. Don't leave your pic-a-nic basket (or your Charmin) where they can find 'em.
That Charmin campaign is still kind of amazing for making the phrase "does a bear shit in the woods" into a cutesy corporate TV ad for prime time.

31. HA!
I nearly posted something similar, but I'm not old enough to remember Cheech & Chong records (or 8 tracks).

Was that the same record that featured the Tactical Women's Alert Team?

29. If you have pets, I would suggest that you keep them inside at night if you don't already do so.
If the bear felt threatened it might harm them.

That might not have ended well.
