1. I have to put in a special word for Judi Trott of "Robin Of Sherwood" from British television.
Back in the Eighties. Clannad did the musical soundtrack. Cool. And Judi Trott was smokin'...

I WAS a huge fan of Olivia De Havilland's Maid Marion when I was a kid, though... B-)

9. Definitely my vote as well!
And she could fight! Was a great sinister series with lots of pagan aspects, and the people looked real - you could tell that the castles stank.

34. I'm glad somebody mentioned Judi Trott
She was great in Robin of Sherwood. I'd say she's the best Maid Marion of Robin Hood Television shows. For movies though, I have to go with Olivia de Havilland from the 1938 classic "The Adventures of Robin Hood" which is the best Robin Hood movie ever made. In my humble opinion of course.

5. My dear pokerfan!
By far and away, Audrey Hepburn!

She was not only very beautiful, but what a performance. And with Sean Connery!

The two of them just lit up the screen...

8. Trigger made his film debut with Olivia
Roy Roger's famous horse Trigger--then Golden Cloud--was Maid Marian's ride in Robin Hood.

For you horse/Robin Hood fans out there.

10. My vote goes to Cate Blanchett, and I haven't even seen it yet!
She always gives more than expected, and I'm sure
her Marion will become the definitive.

Am I the ONLY one who is excited about this "Robin Hood"?

I'm sneaking out with my husband to see it at the matinee
tomorrow while the kids are sleeping.

LOVE Russell Crowe and I LOVE Cate Blanchett.

I am also fond of Ridley Scott productions.

21. Cate will be a superb Marion.
Cate is superb in whatever role she plays. To me, her most astonishing role was her portrayal of Petal in The Shipping News. I am convinced she can play any role and do it well.

My son bought the DVD and my thought was what was she thinking? Or was it that anyone involved in this howler looked bad by association?

Liked her in Benjamin Button though.

The version with her, Erroll Flynn & Basil Rathbone is my all time favorite version of the legend. Although, I am curious about the new one starring Mr. Crowe....

14. I had to vote for Audrey Hepburn.
Edited on Fri May-14-10 10:01 AM by Demoiselle
The idea of Robin and Maid Marian getting old is sad, of course, but both she and Connery really moved me.
She was very beautiful but weary....and so was he. Of course they could play two of the Three Stooges and they'd still move me, so my choice probably has little to do with Robin Hood per se.

I also adore Men in Tights. (Both the movie and the mental image.)

16. Audrey Hepburn, because...
not only was she was the best in every single role she played, no matter what the movie, she was also one of the most beautiful women to ever be on the big screen.

17. Lucy Griffiths miscast.
In the TV series, I though Lucy Griffiths was miscast as Marian. She just didn't seem the type who could live a double life as the Watchman.

I'd like to see Robin of Sherwood and Judi Trott, but I bought one DVD set with a dud disque (and refunded) and read about others having the same, so I'm leery to give it another go.

29. Why not Bernadette O'Farrell and Patricia Driscoll?
Edited on Sat May-15-10 10:33 PM by happyslug
The British 1950 Black and White Television Series may NOT be watched by anyone else, but it is a good re-telling of the story.
Bernadette O'Farrell 1955-1956:

Patricia Driscoll Maid Marien 1957-1960

If Star Trek fans won't speak, someone has to speak for them.

"Yes, now let's..."
"What kind of plan is that?"
"An excellent one if you'd only hurry up."
