Was my printer sabotaged?
My printer was working just fine yesterday.

I went to lunch.

I came back. My printer had been moved about two inches. I could tell because things around it had been moved.

It now makes a godawful racket and the prints are illegible.

No one in IT knows of anyone who visited my desk between 1:30 - 2:30 yesterday. My cow-irkers saw no one. No one who's on this printer even used it while I was at lunch.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but I feel like someone sabotaged my printer.

Weird.

Oh - and now I'm waiting for the HP service rep.

1. Al Queda.
They are resorting to lamer and lamer plots with each passing month.

3. It was They.
You know, the ones who sneak into your house at night and change the tension on your sewing machine or switch out the jumbo eggs in the refigerator for extra-large ones.

4. Anybody else in a nearby office have the same make and model?
I'm guessin it's the famous old "Aw shit my printer ain't workin! What time's Bertha go to lunch? Maybe I can swap mine fer hers!" routine, available at finer offices everywhere

5. That's SOP around here
On the older printers you could swap out the network cards. That is not so easy on the newer printers so it has cut some of that out.

6. I had a Mac at work. One day, I come in: the cable connecting
the Mac to the machine is gone. Nobody else in that particular office had a Mac, but it was a huge work place, with hundreds of people, and lots of the higher ups had master keys. I could have reported it and ordered a replacement, then sat on my hands a week, waiting for the replacement. I just left, spent $30 or $40 bucks of my own money for a new cable, came back, connected everything up, and went back to work :grr:
