Parliamentarian asks president to investigate UFO claims.
Edited on Wed May-05-10 04:02 PM by Q3JR4
Or Russian Governor Tells Tale of Alien Abduction, President asked to Investigate and Russian parliament concerned that a Russian governor who was abducted by aliens may have given up secret information during the visit to the alien spaceship (via fark.com).

The aliens came for him on September 18, 1997. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was at home in his Moscow apartment when they came in and abducted him, taking him to their space ship where they communicated with him telepathically.

<snip>

But Ilyumzhinov isn’t simply one of the thousands who claim to have been abducted by aliens, he’s also the governor of the Russian republic of Kalmykia and a former president of the World Chess Federation.

Now a Russian parliamentarian wants Ilyumzhinov questioned, fearing he may have given the aliens “secret information,” according to the Echo of Moscow radio station.

And not just interrogated by anybody, but by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

1. Well I don't believe in aliens.
But I can comment on the subject.

If there were aliens, what are the odds, that they would put the well being of the 2% that have much power over the rest of the 98% and the well being of the planet, its ecosystem, and all its other life forms?

That is the only way I think on it, from a perception of step outside yourself and look at the whole world, then ask is any individuals view of how things should be ordered correct?

I thought that was an interesting concept to allow for looking at things from a different perspective, but do not think it is aliens, because that is just another set of normal world explanations.

Also aliens that developed tech to travel, would have overcome the baser values and ways of hate. And would not be conquest types. Although they might be protection types, as metaphor.

So who do you think they would protect?

2. I hope that aliens exist somewhere, but
I doubt if they're visiting us in the way that the popular culture would have us believe.

I don't know if we can say that whatever comes out of the giant space ship to meet us will be friendly. I've heard it said that the ones more likely to leave their planets are the ones who are more warlike and aggressive. That doesn't bode well for us.

We like to look at the more advanced race and believe that because they are more advanced they'll be friendly. I don't know if that's the case, and I don't think I'd bet the farm on that idea.

4. I have made the argument that they would more likely be peaceful.
But the funny thing is warlike autocratic people would think that is mean.

If you free a slave, a peaceful thing to do, then the slaveholder thinks your mean. Same thing as in Egypt, the pharaohs did not think the Israelis being free was from a good thing.

(Note that I don't think that was aliens either, but think what people think of as Aliens is supernatural.)

5. Can you make a single post
without referencing a book of fiction as authority?

6. You may not understand that books of fictions can also be thoughts from the writers of books.
Edited on Thu May-06-10 08:50 AM by RandomThoughts
And people could disagree what is fiction and what is non fiction, and I could actually make an argument to show that, although it is difficult to prove since it requires perspective making the thoughts of the writers of books more then their thoughts.

But on the conversation of what is fiction and what is non fiction, they are no more fiction than any other thought on a subject. Anytime you think of a situation as a hypothetical to think on how a person might choose to think and feel, it is the same thing. When a person thinks what they will do for a day, they create a fiction to decide on action.

The difference between fiction and non fiction, is that fiction creates a set of circumstances to look at real life situations that occur in metaphor, and how people react in life, while non fiction takes some event and looks at how people reacted to some historical event.

You could say history is a writers view of a reaction to events, and fiction is how a writer thinks some people might react to an event based on views of what people are.

If you look at them as how people think and feel, they are not much different.

Why are so many stories about groups of people overcoming huge odds for reasons of better virtues of courage, and justice? Because that is what people think the world should be like, and bringing the world to that point in part includes the contributions of fiction.

First you must be able to imagine it, then believe it can happen, then make it happen. Being able to invision a possibility is a stepping stone to it actually happening.

Also people choose to see things as they choose, I find metaphors for many things by contrasting many things including fiction. Like gun being the truth and light for instance, why because I think violence is dumb, so to enjoy a film, I replace in my mind actions of violence with thoughts of better actions, making a fiction tale out of a fictional tale.

There are both good and bad stories I agree.

But I also know many mostly good men teach good stories.

8. It might be a difference of views on things.
Just expressing my thoughts on the importance of many things.

I understand also you may believe differently, or in a different context.

9. Due to budgetary constraints, this is impossible.
The government's already tied up investigating haunted houses, and demon possession.
