Five Wednesday Questions
Of course, you can answer these questions on other days, too, if the thread goes past today.

1. What is the most overrated restaurant you have eaten at? (I mean any style of restaurant - not just fine dining. Anything from fine dining to fast food.) By overrated, I mean a restaurant that is highly praised for the food, but you disagree.

2. Do you have a certain amount of favorite music artists?

3. What kind of computer do you like the most? (desktop, laptop, iPad, netbook, etc.)

4. What is one unusual thing that has happened to you in the last month or so?

5. Manhattan or New England clam chowder (or neither)?

My answers:

1. Penny's Pizza - it's in my area. Supposed to have great pizza, but I thought it was way to sloppy and therefore hard to eat with your hands. The crust was also too singed.

2. Not really. The Beatles are my favorite artist ever, but my top 20 or 25 artists would probably be dependent on mood. And I haven't attempted a top 50 or anything like that. Twenty-five of my faves would be: The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Abba, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, U2, R.E.M., Kay Hanley, Dixie Chicks, The Corrs, Chris Isaak, A Fine Frenzy, Sarah McLachlan, Michelle Branch, New Pornographers

3. I'm moving to a laptop. Seems computers are downsizing, and I'll get used to it.

4. 90 degrees here in April, and again in early May. Funny because Philly hit 89 each time I hit 90-92 out here in the northern suburbs.

5. Definitely New England clam chowder for me.

1. OK, here ya go
1. any Chinese Buffet type restaurant, most of it doesn't even resemble real Chinese food
2. Nope, I have a fairly schizoid musical taste
3. Loved my laptop (toshiba), buying a new one this month
4. hmmmm, my life is kind of like a bad sitcom these days, can't pick just one but the marching band practicing in front of our new house was pretty good
5. New England, hands down

3. My mom has a Toshiba and also likes it
Though she has had a problem with the fan letting the computer overheat, and it can shut down out of nowhere. I'll look into Toshiba laptops. :hi:

2. Answers
1. Galileo, Roberto Donna's "flagship" restaurant in the DC area, nowhere near the hype.

2. Not a certain amount. If I like them, I like them, I do not assign a numerical value to the number of favorite artists I have.

3. Desktop

4. I got a fundraising letter from the GOP

5. New England.

4. Restaurants are difficult because I usually enjoy myself wherever I go.
1. The (recently defunct) Tavern on the Green. Great location, beautiful place, boring food and just OK service. I miss the twinkle lights in Central Park but I hardly go out to the city for dinner anymore.

2. Billy Holiday, Johnny Cash, Elvis Costello, Peggy Lee, Julian Bream, Tupac and Miles.

3. I loved my HP laptop but I broke it....so now I have a Toshiba Satellite.

4. After ten years of refusing to roll over despite endless encouragement, my dog Henry taught himself to roll from the living room into the dining room. I think it started accidentally while he was trying to scratch an itch.

5. Manhattan with a healthy hit of Louisiana Hot Sauce.

5. Ok, here are my answers...
1. I generally go to places I like..but I went to Red Lobster twice with my parents and chances are I'll never go back. Service was horrible, and the food was barely average.

2. My music taste is very eclectic. I love all music, so I don't have a favorite genre or artist/band. There's something on my IPod for everyone.

3. Laptop. Love my laptop. I have a PC/desktop too, but I'm always on the laptop. Can't imagine not having one.

4. Like you it was 90 in here April so I turned my air on. I don't ever remember turning the air on in April. And again this past weekend.

5. Definitely New England clam chowder for me.

6. Allrighty then
1. Local: Siam Orchid, Concord, NH: A lot of locals rave about it, but I thought it was nothing special. Had better at Lakhorn in Manchester, Chaing Mai in Portsmouth, and Thai Basil in Boston.

Out of Town: K-Paul's, New Orleans: Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it wasn't mind-bogglingly awesome, and certainly not what you would expect for the inflated prices.

2. Yes. While I like a wide variety of music, I inevitably gravitate towards a lot of "1980s smart kid" acts , e.g., U2, REM, Echo, Joy Division, etc, plus some alt country like Steve Earle and Jason Ringenberg.

3. Laptop. It's nice to be able to lug the 'puter along when the need arises.

4. I missed a rock concert because of a volcano. Spinal Tap has nothing on me. I had tickets to see Bad Lieutenant (which is basically New Order minus Peter Hook and plus Jake Evans). The Mt. Bjorkbjorkbjorkfarfegnugen eruption stranded the band at the airport in the UK and forced the cancellation of their short US tour.

5. New England. Manhattan is a crime against nature. Oh, and the Yankees suck.

7. K
1) Jacks BBQ - don't know if it is still there but it always used to win "Best of Tucson" in the BBQ category. Tried it once and it sucked. Thought maybe it was just a bad day so gave it another try. Nope it sucked. Skimpy servings and bottled bbq sauce (or at least it tasted like it) Never could figure out what people saw in the place. (In and Out Burger goes here too)

2) Don't really have any favorite artists - I like so many kinds of music. Just don't repeat stuff too much. I like DIVERSITY.

3) Only know desktop pc, have barely touched a couple of laptops.

4) Weather this spring! Hot, freezing, windy, hot, freezing, windy. The rattlesnake out on x-mas day. Still "freaking" about that one!

5) Neither, don't really like clams although I do like a lot of other seafood.

14. I'm with you on music
Edited on Wed May-05-10 09:35 PM by mvd
I have artists in my collection from all these genres: classic rock, pop, rock, folk, classical, country, alt-country, alternative, new age, R&B, Motown/soul, and even heavy metal and rap. I do prefer certain genres, but I am diverse.

8. Ok, you asked for it...literally!
1. What is the most overrated restaurant you have eaten at? (I mean any style of restaurant - not just fine dining. Anything from fine dining to fast food.) By overrated, I mean a restaurant that is highly praised for the food, but you disagree.

Gourmet night for me is my fave pizza joint. You're asking me to get all huate cuisine and shit...I will just say that food is yummy.

2. Do you have a certain amount of favorite music artists?

Why yes. There is only seven fave artists one can hold at anytime. After that you're just being greedy...cut it out.

3. What kind of computer do you like the most? (desktop, laptop, iPad, netbook, etc.)

Whatever one lets me answer these questions.

4. What is one unusual thing that has happened to you in the last month or so?

What is normal would make more sense. Ok, last Saturday my friends and I went into a bar that was stocked full of Hell's Angels. No bartender, no menu...get your beer and like it was the only option available. I just wanted some meat and fries, but we made the most of it, and I ended up smoking weed some guy named Bluto. Really lol.

5. Manhattan or New England clam chowder (or neither)?

Death before either! Fish only goes good with other fish, not beer, so that's out. Any food that doesn't go with good sense (or beer) should be right out of any conversation.

:hi:

9. 1. Montana's. I went there and had a steak. It was so awful I didn't believe that was
their usual fare. So I went back again the next week. It was horrible again.

10. Yea! Questions! My answers...
1. What is the most overrated restaurant you have eaten at? P.F. Chang (although I'm not sure if it is "highly praised"?)

2. Do you have a certain amount of favorite music artists? Not a "certain" amount--- but there are quite a few.

3. What kind of computer do you like the most? (desktop, laptop, iPad, netbook, etc.) I really like my Apple laptop that we use at school. It's been dropped, banged around, and still works great.

4. What is one unusual thing that has happened to you in the last month or so? We got a new puppy. She is soooo cute, but a real handful! Nothing like a puppy to shake up your "usual" routine!

5. Manhattan or New England clam chowder (or neither)? New England.

16. I had heard good things about P.F. Chang's and..
agree with you about it. Wegman's is cheaper, right next door to P.F. Chang's, and has better Chinese food IMO.

12. Okay
1. What is the most overrated restaurant you have eaten at? (I mean any style of restaurant - not just fine dining. Anything from fine dining to fast food.) By overrated, I mean a restaurant that is highly praised for the food, but you disagree.

Bern's Steakhouse. Always rated at the very top of all restaurants in the country. Meh.

2. Do you have a certain amount of favorite music artists?

I have a few that I'd call "favorites" but I like many.

3. What kind of computer do you like the most? (desktop, laptop, iPad, netbook, etc.)

I prefer a tower system (desktop)

4. What is one unusual thing that has happened to you in the last month or so?

I got to watch a Red Sox game where they won.

5. Manhattan or New England clam chowder (or neither)?

New England. It's the only real clam chowdah.

13. My answers:
1. Any chain Italian restaurant - it doesn't matter if it's Olive Garden, Romano's, Carino's, etc. I generally find the food bland and watered down. Or in the case of Romano's, their basic spaghetti and meatballs is a whopping 2500 calories!!!!

2. Yes I love all types of music and have a ton of stuff I enjoy listening to.

3. I have both a laptop and a desktop that are fairly new and amazing. The desktop I built myself and I just bought a new ATI 5830 video card for it.

4. I saw a female friend of mine scale a fence wearing high heels, that was pretty hilarious.

5. New England

19. Oh, let's see...
1. Sardi's in New York City. I mean, maybe it's not fair of me to judge since the only thing I saw on the menu (since I was younger and pickier at the time) that looked good was the cheeseburger, and at $16, you'd figure it would be a pretty damned good cheeseburger. Yeah, no. Worst cheeseburger I've ever had. I made it about halfway through before I gave up. For a place that caters to a lot of celebrities and sells a lot of fancy food, they sure can;t make a simple cheese burger...

2. Not really. It's hard to pin that sort of thing down with me, since my musical tastes vary really widely - anything from the rock of the 60's and 70's to early big band jazz of the 30's to modern rock to 80's pop/punk to classical music centuries old. I'm kind of all over the board on music.

3. I love my Dell laptop. Love it.

4. Well, I felt the total wrath of the full moon last week in the form of wave after wave of batshit insane customers coming to me at my job. Does that count?

5. I'd have to say New England clam chowder. When it's good, it's G-E-W-D gewd!
