Anyone here live in a "green" modular home, and in what ways did you
make it greener? (And did it cost you an arm and a leg to do it?)

1. WOW...we just started checking that exact...
thing out Sunday on the nets. Don't know anyone yet who has done this kind of building.

We thought about purchasing land near where our youngest is planning
on going to to school and if code allows placing a green modular there.

2. Have you checked this site out? These houses are exquisite if you like
older style homes: http://www.newworldhome.com/

(I'm afraid to even ask how much they cost!)

I have seen ter homes featured on HGTV and they look very very nice. They can be customized to include anything you want, including solar, geo, rain harvesting, etc. They will also help you find property and financing, as well as any rebates/tax credits/$$$ incentives being offered by the government.

5. I have heard of them. I wish they were on my side of the country, but maybe there is someone over
that is doing something similar.

9. Isn't that charming as hell?
I'd live there in a ht flash! I also liked the picture of the intentional community set up with those houses -- very nice and neighborly.

11. It really is!
I guess it helps that I'm a sucker for anything that looks to have a Craftsman influence. :P

12. wow! that is really something to think about
I would love to live in/own a little place (1100 sq ft or less) and it seems like they can build a place to your specifications (not too fancy). The "greeness" of it is a big selling point and I am only a 100+ miles away from them. Hmmmm....
