1. Ate curry every day for a year with my fingers
Take a big pot. Add a finger of oil in the bottom. When it gets hot, brown your onions and garlic. Add cumin, tumeric, and ground red pepper. Add your chopped stew meat or chicken and get it cooked. Toss in your chopped vegetables and some water, maybe a bit of ketchup or tomato paste, and simmer. For an authentic experience, serve it over gummy clumpy sticky rice on your: let it cool enough not to burn your fingers; then fashion a 3 cm ball of curry and rice with one hand, roll the ball onto your first three fingers with your thumb behind it, and flip the ball into your mouth

5. I've done that
add a fat/sweet to blend out the flavor a bit, depending on the type of curry. I like using fruit, and you can't go wrong with coconut milk or a touch of yogurt, imo. Both will temper the heat but retain the flavor of the pepper/curry. Is this more an Indian or a Thai curry?

8. I've been experimenting with some fruit in mine
and I like it. Sometimes golden raisins, but my favorite lately is plantain because it's a little sweet and a starchy but not too much of either, but really does blend with the spices in an interesting way. Avocado can be good too, cut up a little into each serving instead of mixed into the pot. It does a similar act as yogurt/coconut/sour cream to temper the heat a little and broaden the flavor.

10. The best (and only) curry I ever had
was the annual Curry picnic at the Unity Church in Ft. Collins when Paul's wife would make the curry and the members would bring the "fixin's". It was awesome. I don't know how "traditional" it was because I had not had it before, or since, but it sure was yummy!
