Draft Picks
Anyone looking forward to tonight?

and, is Tebow really that good or does he just have a catchy sounding name?

1. I am. Unfortunately, I don't have ESPN
so...I guess I'll have to follow along online.

And I don't think Tebow will be successful in the NFL. Especially if he insists on playing QB. I kind of expect him to be another Florida QB to be an NFL bust.

17. He'll be a big time bust
ESPN DraftCast graded him as an F.

I agree.

And he's on my fucking team, and I want him fucking out of Dove Valley and into flipping burgers AWAY from Colorado.

27. Well, he has Jesus on his side so if he wins, you know it was because
the big guy was rooting for him. And if he doesn't, I guess it will be because the Bronco team or coach sucks. I see it coming.

4. Yes, and Tebow isn't all that and a bag of chips.
Sam Bradford, however, is.

And whatsisname Suh, the guy from Nebraska, is scary good. He's probably going to go to the Lions, who also picked up Vanden Bosch and may now have a tremendous defensive line.

I wish again the Bears had a first round pick.

5. Yes.
And I think Tebow was a good college QB, but I don't think he's ready for the NFL. He played in a spread offense..out of the shot-gun, he has an elongated throwing motion, and finally he's not NFL accurate.

Now, Jimmy Clausen, is another story.

6. That's amazing to hear everyone's appraisal of Tebow.
In Florida they talk about him like he's the great white hope. But in the last two days, it looks like people are becoming aware that his real estate isn't beachfront. It will be interesting to find out what happens tonight.

7. I disagree
I've heard that appraisal of Tebow since the combine began those months ago. It seems like the NFL people who know this kind of thing already had him pegged, and Florida may be coming around now. I find his politics irritating and never really saw him as a great player; he is good yes, but he is not going to be a great NFL QB. I wish him luck though, and am ready to stand corrected.

ESPN had been saying Tebow would be a third round pick at best for months now.

If anything, in the last couple days they've been a lot higher on him than they once were.

Not surprised he got picked in the first round, but I would have been surprised a couple weeks ago.

edit- sorry i think I misinterpreted what you were saying

16. Yup. ESPN has him rated #4 in terms of accuracy
Not good.

This guy should have been picked as Mr. Irrelevant, but now we're stroking his ego.

I hope he winds up in the practice squad or traded elsewhere.

Or cut in the very first cut day.

20. We have three solid QB's here.
Orton - a good game manager - doesn't like to take a lot of risks.
Quinn - an unproven QB, needs nurturing
Brandstater - He was really good during the preseason - could challenge Quinn for backup spot.
Tebow - Unless we convert him to something else, he has no shot in QB'ing. A 4th stringer and probably will be a practice squadder or a 1st cut victim.

And we're going to overpay Tebow millions when he doesn't even deserve a living wage. Send him to overseas or something - just don't let him anywhere near Dove Valley.

21. Brady Quinn
is going to be a solid QB given the chance. He just needs his shot.

Wonder if Denver has other plans for Tebow, like TE, I've heard that rumor. Don't know if there's any truth to it. But we'll see. I don't see the need for him as QB in Denver.

14. Tebow couldn't even play high school football in Texas
and he's picked by my own fucking team.

I hope they get rid of him tomorrow as a part of a package to get more picks.

Tebow is nothing but an Jesusified egomaniac.

24. My condolences Hawk
Although I am surprised the Eagles traded up to get who they did, it was a far better selection than Tebow. Now you have a full house of mediocre QB's.

Really, I am surprised McCoy was not picked ahead of Tebow.

25. Detroit got the best player...by far
Suh (DT, Nebraska) is SCARY good. The ESPN guys seem to think he's going to be even better in the NFL than he was in college. Hard to imagine. And he's intelligent and extremely nice to boot. In fact, he's already donated $2.6 million to the University of Nebraska (football program and started a scholarship fund). Love him!

30. Detroit and San Francisco look right now like the most improved teams in the NFC. (nt)
Both teams still have holes, but barring injuries, I figure the Lions will get to .500 and I think SF makes the playoffs in the NFC.

Suh looks like the best defensive player in the draft in years. This guy stands 6'4", weighs 300 lbs, gets to full speed in just 6 yards, and runs a 40 in under five seconds. He's faster than Tony Romo, for example. ESPN did a "sports science" bit on him and if he's running full-speed he impacts the QB with three thousand pounds of force.

Translation to the above: when you're passing, you double-team Suh. Period. When you're running up the middle, you better double-team Suh. If you are playing with a tight end, he stays home and blocks, because Suh will bring a lot of pressure up the middle. Suh's presence encourages, and nearly mandates, QB roll-outs and screens. That's the way it looks right now; of course, Suh hasn't played a down in the NFL and until he does he's unproven.

But scary as hell. Right now, the coaches at Green Bay, Minnesota and Chicago are already thinking of how to deal with him, because you have to. I haven't seen a bluer chip since... well, it's been a while.
