Worker punched after confronting man about odor
BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Police said a Cost Cutter store employee was punched in the mouth after he confronted a customer about his body odor. Police spokesman Mark Young told The Bellingham Herald that police went to the store after a report of a fight and found employees holding down a man.
The newspaper said customers apparently complained while the man was in the store Sunday, and the employee decided to discuss it with him when he returned the next day.

Young said the store employee was not going to ask him to leave the store, but only approached him to share the complaints. Young said the man snapped and threw a bunch of batteries and punched the worker, causing a minor injury.

Alfred Needham, 50, was allegedly driving with Loretta McNeely, 50, of Gloucester when police say they got in an argument over who had the worst body odor.

During the argument, Needham allegedly hit McNeely and McNeely hit him back.

Police say when Needham brought McNeely back to her apartment, their fight spilled out onto the street. That's when McNeely called her boyfriend from out of the house.

As Needham tried to drive away, McNeely's boyfriend grabbed the car's windshield wiper. When Needham sped up, the victim was knocked to the ground.

Police later caught up with Needham. He faces several charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of an accident.
