Rare historic photos of cats serving in the Navy
These are so cute - classic photos of cats with sailors and Marines. Cats were not only ship mascots, they were crew members who helped keep ships clean by getting rid of rodents. Some were even issued their own bunks and uniforms:

15. A moment of supporting life
instead of killing

A moment of supporting another life
instead of defending his own

A moment of true humanity in what must have been an ocean of inhumanity

5. Aw, thank you so much!
Those are great pictures! Some brought tears to my eyes. Kittehs and cattehs have that ability to bring out humanity in the most inhumane of places, don't they?

I regularly send my husband, in Afghanistan, canned or pouch cat food, so he can feed the cats that he runs into. We have 6 cats who he misses a lot, and he always tries to do what he can, even if it's only a scritch, for the strays he sees over there.
