1. I like the part about the MAN making the PLANS or at least, SUGGESTIONS.
I call that "the winning formula."

:hide:

2. "Be sure that he does not think that you are an expert and are going to try to outshine him."
And, "Convince him that it is just for fun."

The fellow, that is.

I found this book at an estate sale way back in the seventies, it's a classic.

3. This guy is more than happy to have the gf tell him where to be, when, and what to wear.
There's approximately a 1-in-8 chance I get all three right.

hahahahaa! Just saw the "Be sure he does not think you're an expert..." bit. I also prefer girls who are competent at shit, and not afraid to show it.

4. Ask me anything, I have the book right here.
For example, "Who Breaks Off the Conversation When a Man Calls a Woman?"

(chapter 28, Telephones)

11. The answer is... "The Man". You were right, life was simpler in the 50's.
Not fair, but maybe less complicated.

By the book:

answer: "The man. If he talks an unreasonable length of time, the woman may suggest ending the call if others are waiting to use the telephone."

This answer is qualified by the next question and answer: "The caller always ends the conversation..."

So, it was a trick question, if the man calls, the man ends the conversation.

9. Doesn't it depend on exactly WHAT the man calls the woman?

21. My 80 YO aunt and her doddering ancient friends
refer to one another as "the girls". Such a cultural oddity. So offensive now (how belittling), but they don't think anything of it!

13. That puts a certain spin on the GD Boomer/Gen X wars.
I will very gladly admit again and again that I am ETERNALLY grateful to my parents' generation for doing the heavy lifting necessary to make sure that this reads to me like an anthropological account of an alien race.

20. "What Do Fellows Think About a Girl Who Can't Say "No" to Petting?" (page 101)
Chapter Twenty Two:

"What Do Fellows Think About a Girl Who Can't Say "No" to Petting?"

In most cases, men do not have a very high opinion of this type of girl even though they may date her.
