Gimme your best "simple" cocktail recipe
Edited on Fri Apr-16-10 08:32 PM by JBoy
No shit requiring vodka "infused" with some fucking ingredient, or require some obscure liqueur. Stuff I'm likely to have in my liquor cabinet already. The fewer the ingredients the better.

I'll start things off:

Chapel Hill

1.5 oz Bourbon
0.5 oz Cointreau/Triple Sec
0.5 oz lemon juice

Fine 'n Dandy

1.5 oz Gin
0.5 oz Cointreau/Triple Sec
0.5 oz lemon juice
dash Angostura bitters

Both of these rock the house.

1. Flor de Caña in my coffee.
Except there's some Flor boycott or something. I'm too drunk to investigate the allegations.

2. Flor de Cana is a great Rum - from Nicaragua
Not sure what the boycott would be about.

A good Rum is underestimated as a drink - served neat, like Scotch.

4. The boycott has something to do with the treatment of the people in the cane fields
I really need to look into it before I plunk down any more coin on Flor.

And, yes, quite tasty up.

Pretty darn good. I'm not really a gin drinker, and I'm out of Bourbon. I think I'll try it with Vodka next.

On edit: Getting better by the minute

9. Crunk Water....
You can make it in different quantities either in a water cooler or a 2 liter bottle but recipe is good.

Crunk Water: for water cooler
1 gallon of vodka (cheap)
Fifth of Everclear (190, or whatever you choose to call it)
2 2 liter bottles of sprite
About 8 or 9 Kool-Aid packets
Mix and fill cooler rest of way up with ice.

Crunk Water for smaller more personal use:
Take a 2 liter bottle of Sprite, pour out the Sprite down to about an inch below the top of the label,
Refill bottle with Vodka to normal amount,
pour one pack of Kool-Aid in bottle and quickly put cap on. I emphasize quickly because it will shoot out like crazy but eventually the pressure subsides and it is awesome.

Also just straight Bourbon and Mt. Dew. is good.

16. In HS, we used to use vodka and Snapple
because Snapple was awesome and you can't really smell vodka when you put it in Snapple. Also high school, wine coolers at parties, and screwdrivers or sex on the beach. Like, all the time. And the worst cheap beer ever.

but then, I had recently moved from Canada. We drank Everclear and orange Kool-Aid & it was awesome at the time. Wine coolers showed up when I was in college but I always preferred wine without the cutsie.

Always been '11, WAS December, but Amy learned her studies enable her to take September away. So tho I was 'wrapped up' to find outfit earlier, having seen what I like, I've not thought of the BIG blow up recently!

And she asked if I'd help with honeymoon 'plans,' as I was always family travel agent, they've decided to 'drive around Europe,' so thats a current, fun thing to do. I'm hoarding Europe maps I've already picked up for them!

Looking forward to 'engagement party' dinner with our 2 families DAY BEFORE MOTHERs' DAY! We did meet them a couple years ago, had a very nice dinner at casual restaurant, so I do think the future is bright!

17. I call it a "skinny tonic"--Diet tonic water, vodka.
Maybe with ice. (My old fridge had an icemaker, my new one doesn't. :( ) Cointreau with that makes it stellar, or a lemon or lime slice. Then it's more like you're having a cocktail, and less like you're a boozer finding ways to choke more alcohol dowm.--I'm having bourbon and water right now myself, so--that one is simple. :)

I like adding a dash of Angostura bitters to my bourbon and branch sometimes, though. I've put just Bitters in seltzer for the taste.

23. The s.o. calls this one "The Annihilator"
Concocted by me one boozy summer afternoon.

In as tall as glass as you can get your hands on:

2 long shots of vodka (I like Polar Ice and Ketel One, but any good vodka will do)
1 Smirnoff Ice (regular flavor)

If there's space left, top off with lemonade (regular or raspberry). :P

Pouring the Smirnoff takes just enough carbonation off the final result that you can slam it back without burping your head off.

26. The Banger
.
First (and Kali came close on this) Cuba Libre: rum & Coke on ice with a squeeze of lime juice
.
.
The Banger:
single or double shot of tequila in a rocks glass
healthy splash of grapefruit soda (like Fresca)
drops of Tabasco to taste
.
Cover with a napkin, bang on the bar to cause quick foam and slam it back.
.
Used to drink so many of these at my local bar that I had a black t-shirt
printed up with all capital bright-red letters that said, "BANG ME".
.
That's how you ordered it from the bartender.
.
LOVE hot sauce... but it's the only thing that ever made Tabasco palatable.
