Postsolstice Soup - My recipe (a navy bean soup)
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 05:55 PM by Taverner
3 cups of Dried Navy Beans
1 meaty hambone
1 yellow onion
1 turnip
1 carrot
3 stalks of celery
1 cup chicken stock
1 cup beef stock
2 cups water
1 pinch thyme, dill weed, garlic powder, salt, pepper
1/4 cup cream or milk

Soak beans overnight in water

Next day add beans, hambone, vegetables, spice, stock, water to a crock pot.

After 8-10 hours, scrape off the meat from the hambone. Throw bone away. Cook another 4-5 hours

After 12-15 hours, take soup from crock pot. Add to food processor when cools. Turn into a pulverized mash soup, with a split pea soup consistency. Add cream slowly. Reheat and serve.
