Several Rescue Attempts Failed

Firefighters and rescue officials spent four hours involved in a rescue at The Vatican on Thursday night -- all to help save a cat from Pope Benedict XVI.

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians from The Vatican first tried dropping a string down the pipe to rescue the cute kitty, but that attempt failed.

They tried to cut into the pipe to try to get at the animal, but everything failed.

Finally, firefighters snaked a camera down the pipe and were able to find the cat and pull it to safety and away from Pope Benedict XVI.
