"One shining moment" just jumped the shark.
:(

A new version by Jennifer Hudson debuted tonight. It was terrible. They showed four or five clips of HER. :wtf: I don't remember them doing that with the other versions.

And not to be sexist, but I think the song is better when a male sings it. I think it just sounds better.

:( I am so sad. That song is one of the things I most look forward to. It marks the end of the basketball season. I usually cry when I hear it. Not anymore. Not with this version, anyway. :(

1. +1 That was awful.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who tears up when I hear that song.

Trivia: The song was first used as at the conclusion of the 1985 tournament. What song was used during the highlight montage before "One Shining Moment"?

3. I don't know.
That's a good question. I won't peek. Tell me what it is.

4. No kidding.
That was the worst one I've seen, and I've seen them all.

Even the clip job sucked.

"One Shining Moment" used to be a poignant tribute to the **kids** behind college basketball. It becomes too easy to forget that they are just that -- kids. That's what has driven me to tears watching this over the years. The raw emotion, caught by both the song and the clips. Luther Vandross did a spectacular job with that, and now CBS has reduced it to a dime-a-dozen music video. The Jennifer Hudson cameos were just galling, especially after watching the game. This is not about HER.

Very, very disappointing.

CBS, if you don't want to do "One Shining Moment" anymore, then please just scrap it rather than insult us with the tripe you showed last night.
