Saw Tom Petty in concert in 1989. Even though he often said he despised "Breakdown" by then, he still played it. The audience took over from the very first word. We sang the entire thing, letter perfect; Petty never opened his mouth. By the middle of the chorus, he dropped to his knees and spread his arms in gratitude. We started laughing so hard we stumbled over a few of the words, but we recovered and finished the song.
