DU females: How would you protest this?
Over on LBN is a thread about the great State of Georgia attempting to ban female genital piercing as part of its anti-female genital mutilation bill. According to the bill, no female genital piercing can be performed on anyone for any reason anywhere in the state.

Assume your legislature tries something similar. Would you:

a) Nothing
b) Write letters to the paper, the state legislature, the governor
c) Go to a neighboring state to acquire a genital piercing
d) Find someone in-state to pierce you

b) because body mod is not mutilation and you have to have consent to have it done and be a certain age, generally 18+ (which is why i have personal issues with folks that pierce the ears of 6 month olds). and this law does not outlaw male genital piercing.

c) if i really wanted to get my clit peirced (which i have thought of from time to time) i would simply go across state lines to do so. people go across state lines all the time to buy: cheaper gas/cigarettes, fireworks, booze on sundays, avoid blue laws etc. its the states loss of revenue.

4. Clearly the concept of choice means nothing to these nitwits
What one CHOOSES to do to one's body as an adult has no relationship whatsoever to things done to one's body involuntarily as a child.

buncha "morans".

License, Registration and Insurance card ma'am... Oh and one more thing... Spread 'em...?

That could lead to some interesting pat-downs.

Stupid, surely they got bigger problems down there.

New Slogan:

"Dont want pierced genitals... well, then for god's sake... dont have one!"

11. I would challenge it constitutionally
Unless there is a compelling public interest, they need to stay the fuck out of my pants unless they want to show me what is in theirs. I also wonder why no similar law about piercing one's penis?

I think you'd have to agree that while you don't understand it...I should still have the right to do it to myself if I want to.

I don't consider it mutilation. It's decoration.

21. Well, actually I live in Georgia
and I have no intention of having my genitals pierced, so I would have no objection to this. And what female in her right mind would want to have that type of piercing, anyway?

23. The adventurous kind
The kind that knows it makes it easier for men to find your clit with the lights off. :)

The kind who thinks it might make sex feel better.

I don't have that particular piercing (though I haven't completely ruled it out) but I have others and I find this attitude a little condescending. It's my body. If I want to decorate it that should be my right and I shouldn't have to put up with any flak about it.

Just because you don't want to avail yourself of a right doesn't mean it should be stripped away from others. And that's what this is about...stripping away control over their bodies from women.
