4. Boxing's a fantastic spectator sport.
It's the only one that works really well on TV, IMO. Unlike team sports, you can see watch just about everything.

5. maybe because it's...
"Bare", "clean" fighting? I don't know how to explain it. "Organic", maybe? Just two men and their fists. Kinda primitive, if you ask me.

I don't enjoy it.

6. I'd rather shoot a few golf balls.
I use my .357 magnum.

9. If you use .357 hollowpoints...
.
... you can probably make all eighteen holes at once with that ball.
.
Not squeamish... but boxing has always just seemed brutal -- talented,
highly trained athletes -- but humans at their worst -- not their best.
.
Watched the fight (I think it was Tex Cobb -- he was the bounty hunter
in "Raising Arizona") that caused Howard Cosell to refuse to ever
announce at any boxing matches again. Like Rocky, Cobb just wouldn't
fall and the ref refused to stop the fight despite how obvious it was
that he had simply become a vertical near-comatose human punching bag.
.
Dick Cheney probably has it in HD. At the FRONT of his porn collection.
.
I don't believe I've been able to watch one for the minute or two I used
to spend on them prior to that.
.

20. MFM, I used to be a soldier, back in another old war we once had -
I can't stand to watch it, either. I once worked with a young very strong weight lifter type who had trained as a boxer when he was in high school. In his first bout, his opponent hit him a very hard shot right on his nose. He said,"Ow!" and never boxed again.

There is something to be said for a person who will willingly take repeated hard blows to the face and head, but I can't think of anything positive to say about them....my instinct would be to run away.

8. Bare knuckle is far too dangerous, but I very much enjoy MMA
I like it for the various fight styles and how they match up with each other.

It's very cool to see how a Judo fighter matches up with a boxer or a Muay Thai kickboxer deals with a Greco-Roman wrestler.

It taps into that sense of wonder I had as a boy when I'd imagine who would win if a Ninja fought a Samurai.

10. In a bare knuckle fight, twist your punch, it tears the skin...
Something I learned somewhere long ago.

Although I don't like watching boxing to violent.

11. It's always fun to watch people that are amazingly skilled practice their craft.
Boxing is an amazingly complex and simple art form.

12. I'm with you, I don't get it
I know it's a fine sport to some. But the raw violence is just too much for my taste. Same reason I never liked "Rocky" movies. Well, the boxing AND Sylvester Stallone. Eww.

14. Beats me.
They have extreme fight events at one of the event centers here regularly. I see nothing entertaining in watching a bunch of guys beat the bloody crap out of each other.

15. Maybe You'd Like A New Sport Called ChessBoxing
It combines chess with boxing. You can win either by knockout or checkmate.

17. It's hard to explain
Read H2O Man's boxing threads for an idea. He's an excellent writer that loves boxing and he can explain waaaaaaaaaaaay better than me on why people enjoy boxing. A year ago I thought it was boring then I began to understand it a little better partly because of H2O Man's boxing threads.
