In no particular order:
Sarah McLachlan - Fubling Towards Ecstasy
Carol King - Tapestry
Natalie Merchant - Tigerlilly
Beth Orton - Trailer Park
Joni Mitchell - Blue

If female bands are allowed, Bikini Kill - Pussy Whipped would be at the top of the list.

I haven't compiled my faves, but great list - I don't know about the k.d. lang album, though. I think I'd have to include one Joni album. Right now, it would be Ladies Of The Canyon.

Annie Lennox - Medusa (but I also love Bare)
Anything by Patsy Cline (she just has a fabulous voice!)
