Question for DU'ers regarding Philly Cheesesteaks...
I spent some time in Philly and ate lots of Cheesesteaks and never had one made with Cheez Whiz. Some knucklehead tried to tell me last week that an authentic Cheesesteak is always made with Cheez Whiz.

I told him he was full of shit. Was I wrong?

1. Nope its made with either Jack, Mozzarella or White Cheddar
I can see the "Mass Production" Philly Cheese Steaks doing this

But not one concerned with quality

4. I knew it!
I told the guy he was full of shit -- he kept telling the waitress that "in Philly, they use Cheez Whiz -- this isn't a real Cheesesteak because you don't use Cheez Whiz."

Dumb ass.

3. You're wrong.

I make fun of Philly a lot. But Pat's is truly the King of Steaks. And they put Whiz on their cheese wit. And yeah, the steak is thin-sliced ribeye, not Steak-Ums or some bullshit.

5. AND NO PEPPERS!
Sorry for shouting. Philly cheesesteak does not have peppers.

6. Cheez Whiz sucks! I don't ever remember eating a cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz!
But, if Pat does it, it must be right!

7. I've never seen one with Cheese Wiz.
My brother, uncle and cousin all order it with pepper jack or provolone. And fried onions and peppers, of course. :)

9. The confusion may come from the Philadelphia phrase "Cheese Wit...."
..As in, do you want cheese wit at?
