Your favorite iPhone (or other mobile) apps?
I just got one of these babies and I am distracted to pieces over it. I've been loading it up, slowly but steadily over the past couple of days with freebies, just to get my feet wet. I like a few of them very much:

Photoshop Mobile--which probably gives the most bang for the bucklessness. I haven't figured out how to make lolcats with it yet, though.

L&M (Gibson) Guitar--has a nice little tuner and a full encyclopedia of chords.

Flixster--which seems to be more useful than Fandango for locating movies (and restaurants nearby).

Louvre--is expennsive in terms of space in memory, but it's nicely presented, breaking down the museum's masterpieces into several details, which it intelligently explains. It's not comprehensive, but it's interesting and fun.

Doodle Buddy--seems like a pleasant little drawing pad. Haven't spent a lot of time in it, but the colors are nice.

Vlingo--voice-activated search engine. I'm speechless.

Sleep Machine--allows you to create your own soporific sonic landscapes from crickets, wind, rain, surf, fans, white noise and other mesmerizing sounds. You can adjust the levels to bring one more to the forefront, and you can tell it to play for up to 24 hours (seems a bit excessive to me, but what the hell. I'll try anything once.)

What little gems have you discovered for your phone?

1. Nice finds!
My faces are kind of boring: WeatherBug and The Weather Channel (I grow orchids); Color Splash, a nifty desaturation tool; IconMaker, which is just sort of time-wasting amusement; Ambience, a sound generator; Snaprature, an upgraded camera app. I have a lot of photo apps; I need to check out the PS one (though IconFail is a quick and easy LOLcat app).

2. Pandora.
It's free and covers every genre of music imagineable.

I also like MLB at Bat and Shazam.

3. +1 on Pandora
We hardly buy music anymore because of this since we listen to most music at the house.

4. Doodle Jump, Dragon Search, Urbanspoon, Star Walk
Doodle Jump is insanely addictive a game as the iTunes description says it is. Well worth the buck.

Dragon search is a tap and speak search app that searches Google, Youtube, Wiki, twitter, etc. A wonderful time saver.

Urban Spoon finds restaurants in your area based on type, location, and price. It gives location, reviews, and a phone number. Great stuff.

Star Walk is the priciest of the ones I listed, but well worth it for an astronomy / science geek like me. You can point your phone at the sky, and Star Walk will tell you what you are looking at, and each star has a little "info" page you can look at to get more info. You can also advance the time so you can see what will be up in a couple of hours. Wonderful stuff.

5. Droidlight
It turns the flash from the camera into a flashlight. I can't believe how many times I've used it already.

My Coupons - displays and downloads current coupons and offers on the spot. I usually get free Redbox movies this way. :D

Weather Channel - type in a zip code and get instant weather.

Fun ones - Copycat (Simon) and Magic 8 Ball.

I looked up the sleep machine (Lightning Bug on Droid). Love it, thanks!

6. I have a flashlight app that I've used as well.
I don't have a flash, though. This just makes the screen all white, and when you turn up the contrast, it glows nicely. It's good just for seeing what's right in front of you in the dark. I've already used it to look at the back of a computer tower in my office. And it makes strobes and alarms if you need them. Haven't had to use those yet.

7. White Noise by TMsoft
I actually prefer a different color of noise, but this has tons of variations, plus a sleep timer/alarm. It's also "seamless" to my ear -- some of them you can hear where the loop stops/starts every few seconds.

Pandora is cool, too.

I'm going to look into both of those.

9. SOMA-FM
A great listener supported(subscription requested but not required) FM station in San Francisco with many channels in 6 or 7 genres. The focus is on the lesser known artists, there is some very fine music. My favorite channel is Space Station SOMA.

Also

VOICE MEMOS...as the name implies, an app to quickly and easily record voice memos. Great for we memory impaired.

BIG STACK...RPN calculator that is functionally equivalent to the HP48

and of course

eBAY...being caught at the end of auction with no means to bid is horrible, problem solved!

10. Amazon Kindle App. It's why I bought the IPhone to begin with.
You can beam books wirelessly to your Iphone from anywhere you in the US or the world if you have a wifi connection. LOVE it and it's free. (The books cost 10 bucks each, but that beat 25 for bestsellers that are printed on paper.)

2) Translate it. Write something in English and translate it in the foreign language of your choice.

3)Currency Converter. Instant conversion to any country's money.

4)Around me. Love this one, it finds you on the map and highlights all the places of interest in your immediate vicinity.

Obviously, I travel a lot, and my Iphone has been my best tool to get around in new places!

13. Do you find them easy enough to read?
Do the lines wrap within the screen, for example, when you increase the font size?

21. Burt, I'm a 55 year old woman who need +250 reading glasses
...and I'm fine with the page layout and font size. However, I've been reading ebooks for years, starting with a PDA in 2000, then a Palm TX until last year. I know there are people who hate the thought of not being able to fondle paper as they read, but when you travel, storing books electronically is the best! Also, reading in bed is a lot easier too. One of my friends had the hardcover edition of Stephen King's "Under the Dome" and that thing is huge and unwieldy. Must weigh 5 lbs!

Anyway, the app is free if you want to try it. Now, if Jobs would just make an external qwerty keyboard for an Iphone so I can blog, I'd be totally satisfied!

11. A couple of my favs (Pandora and Urban Spoon) have already been mentioned.
I read a couple of books a week using Stanza. It gives you the option of downloading books from numerous sources. Usually I'll get free ones from Project Gutenberg through it. My sentimental favorite is the Zippo lighter app. I downloaded it while a friend was playing his guitar at a barbecue last summer so I could have a lighter to wave and it's become a running joke. I have a 14 month old cousin who loves my iphone. The last time I babysat her I downloaded some children's books and she loved it.

16. Facebook, SoundHound, iFitness are my most commonly used apps.
I also have a few like Mixologist that lists recipes for mixed drinks, and PS Mobile for photo editing.

I have quite a few games-
Pocket God is a hilarious app that helps me keep busy during long flights.
The original Final Fantasy was recently revamped and released and so far it's been pretty good.
I also have Monopoly, Amateur Surgeon, and Bejeweled 2 to keep me occupied if need be.

18. I just got my i-phone two weeks ago but so far these are my faves
AccuWeather;
I'm in construction and the accuracy of this app is amazing. It's got and hour by hour function and if it says it's gonna start raining at 8:00 A.M. and stop at noon, It will start raining at 8 and stop at noon. It's also got a 15 day forcast and a bunch of other stuff.

Ringtone: Turns your phone into a recorder and will record 30 second sound clips of anything you want and turn it into a ringtone. I love this app. When I first got the phone I spent at least 20 hours trying to figure out how to get the ringtones I wanted and was really getting frustrated. This app is too easy to believe. I now have My Girl by the Temptations for when my wife calls and I alternate between The Imperial March from Star Wars and O Fortuna for my boss.

Public Radio App:
Never miss another episode of Wait Wait or Science Friday again. Or any other PBS show for that matter

iheart radio.
Allows you to stream any Clear Channel station. I use it for Green 960 out of San Francisco (Think Air America without the bankruptcy) Stephenie Miller, Thom Hartman, Randi, etc.

Carpenter:
Turns your phone into two types of bubble level, a plumb bob and an inclineometer.

And of course Red Laser:
Takes a picture of a bar code and within seconds, tells you the best prices for that item online.

19. Does Red Laser compare prices at different stores in your neighborhood?
Someone was telling me he could scan a bar code on a bottle of wine and comparison shop on his phone all the wine shops in his neighborhood. Does Red Laser do that?

20. on Droid - Baseball Scores
Gives you all the scores, plus box scores and individual stats complete with a picture of the player. Now that spring training games are underway, I can't stay off of it.
