I am happy that Bill White won for the Democratic Primary for Governor today.
He has more then a good chance of kicking Gov. Goodhair's ass.

I think Republicans will cross over to vote for Bill.

He was a popular mayor.

I think you're right. White was only four points behind Perry in a KOS pole last month.

3. hehehe. I saw a another poll on a local hard-right blog

and they're overwhelmingly saying they'll vote for White over Perry. Apparently he's alienated even Houstonian suburban conservatives.

5. The Trans Texas Corridor thing probably had a lot to do with it.

7. Probably so. That an when he mandated that

all Texas girls get the HPV vaccination. Man, when that happened you could hear the wails and gnashing of teeth in suburbia.

14. It's really sad too because now

a lot of conservative parents won't get their girls vaccinated. I heard all kinds of misleading information from the right about the HPV vaccine once the news broke about the Perry mandate. I heard parents say to get your daughter vaccinated sends the wrong message because the virus is sexually transmitted.
It's really sad when you find out what they could possibly be protecting their kids from. http://www.cdc.gov/hpv/cancer.html

4. I was just going to vote for whomever was NOT Rick Perry.

There isnt much to be excited about in this race but Bill White should be ok. Pisses me off that Perry gets to seek a third term. I kinda wanted to see that Debra Medina win the GOP primary. That would have been an interesting election at least.

6. Gosh, I hope so!
I am so sick of Rick Perry. Just like George Bush, every time I see his ugly face, I get nauseous. Time to go, Rick!!! Time to go!

8. I so hope you're right. That said...
I've never been let down underestimating the intelligence of Texas voters. Our fellow Lone Stars routinely vote for horrid Republicans to state office in order to spite the liberals in Washington, regardless of the fact that Austin has nothing to do with federal policy. Remember Ann Richards in 1994? Oh, my heart aches to think of it. I'll work my ass off for Bill White, but I sure hope I get pleasantly surprised at how mean he can be. Kay Bailey pulled her punches with Rick Perry and look what that got her. She'll be lucky to get renominated now and for that she'll have to spend the next two years acting like an imbecile every time a piece of legislation shows up in Congress.

Keep an eye on Mr Perry. By whatever twisted ideology that runs affairs over on that side of the looking glass, the tea party knuckleheads are starting to embrace him. He's trying to set himself up as the go-to guy the second Mrs Palin has her inevitable meltdown. "Perry for President": get used to hearing that phrase if he gets his 3rd and a half term.

9. "underestimating the intelligence of Texas voters"

Texas Dems electing Hank Gilbert over Kinky Friedman for Commissioner of Agriculture gives me hope for the coming voting trend, substance over style.

10. Yeah, Democrats aren't the voters I'm talking about.
Stupid Democrats exist, of course, but they remain a distinct minority in our party.

13. I don't think every republican will cross over but enough will, that is all the counts.
Just enough so Bill wins will be good enough for me.

I know some republicans who hate Perry.

Bill White is not seen as a super liberal type, so he stands a good chance of winning.

Go Bill.

He was decent Mayor.

I meet him at early voting, even signed him in to vote twice in the primaries.

Now who will the the Lt. Gov. will be the real question, that is where the real power lies.

16. Maybe if we use the slogan "Put a White Man in Charge"
we can get some Repugs and TeaBaggers to cross over ;)

17. Bill White is one of the good guys
he threw Houston's doors open to tens of thousands displaced by Katrina, over vocal opposition from racists who claimed "Katricians" were causing a spike in crime (in fact, displaced people were as likely to be victims of crime as perps).

18. He got really pissed off after Hurricane Ike when the pods for water and ice weren't set up.
People were lined up and there was nothing to give them.

It was something to do with the trucks and FEMA.
