Help with a Lenovo computer
My fiance's employer just got him one. It's brand new.

He has had so much trouble with the mouse pad. Right now he's away on business and cannot do anything.

He doesn't have another 2 hours to spare talking to the tech guys....that was how long it took yesterday to fix, only to have it occur again.

Anyway, would a real mouse with a USB connection work for now?

1. Chinese POS
I'd try a USB mouse if I were him.

2. Okay, that's what he's gonna do.
But his employer chose it.

those touch pads are shit anyways. a nice laser mouse and a mousepad and he'll forget all bout that lame touchpad - that is the way to go.

6. Use the little red joystick!
Much preferable to the pad.

9. It's a Lenovo
Not a Thinkpad. While I've read good things about Lenovo laptops, they can't use Thinkpad specs and call them Lenovos.

I am an IBM/Thinkpad fan who is wholly grateful that Lenovo continues to produce what I consider the finest laptops in the land. That wee red button is one of the reasons why I love Thinkpads above all others.

10. So it is an IdeaPad
Which are as you say much lower in quality than the Thinkpad line. I use a Thinkpad and have never had any major problems with it.

Use the USB mouse for now, Ideapads are not as accessible as Thinkpads are to replace the trackpad.

11. YES - get a good mouse.
Sometimes the built in trackpad and magic nipple can fail - they're on the same bus

But the external USB ports are usually on a different bus
