special needs kitty keeps stealing the socks
only after I match them and put them into balls, and I have no idea where she is putting them! I see her carrying them around in her mouth and think awwwwww, how cute, but lately I realize that we have NO socks!

the culprit at rest:

1. Heh. I have a friend whose cats do this
Look for the socks under a bed in a corner or even behind the litter box....

2. but kitteh's seem to have a fifth dimension that only they can access
it's where they go when they break something, puke a hairball on my bed or otherwise engage in heinous feckery, and apparently, it;s where they hide the socks

7. Heinous feckery is a splendid phrase. I shall borrow it, if I may.
Does it mean that if your cats behave themselves, they're feckless?
That kitty is very very cute.

3. Take a tip from "Hansel & Gretel.
.
Easy
.
Fill the sock balls with Progresso Italian Bread
Crumbs and just follow the trail at your leisure.
.
Plus your feet will smell much like veal parmesan.
.
Win-win.

4. I had a cat that woud steal plastic forks and spoons.
I don't know why

She would play with them and the hide them.

So it got to be a game.

After she would play with them I would take them away and put them back so she could steal them again.

8. Whatever she is doing with the socks
it appears to please her very much - she looks like a kitteh who has earned a good nap.

And she is adorable!

9. I think when kitties do that with socks and what not they're channeling their inner mother.
She's pretending to carry her kittens to safety, or something like that. Too cute.

11. I have sock thieves, too.
One little furry kleptomaniac has learned how to open the drawer where the socks are kept. He digs through the drawer to find the socks he likes -- the fuzzy ones, never any other kind -- and carries them around the house. I find them everywhere.

13. Hey, that is not stealing. It is helping you to rearrange. Don't look
a gift kitty in the mouth, kapish?
Yavin, you are thinking of the elves, not the kitties.

14. On the CBC they used to say your sox are not missing it is just the lint all got together
and formed a new one. That is why you have a single sock.
