Saw "Shutter Island" last night. Ask me anything except how it ends.
And see it fast, and keep your hands over your ears and say "lalalalalalala" so no one can spoil it for you. It's great fun. I swear, no one in the theater was breathing during the last half hour.

2. Not as much scary as very suspenseful.
He definitely sees dead people but it's not "boo!" scary. Mostly.

4. WTF is it?
Is it a horror movie or some kind of mystery thriller? Like supernatural horror? Are there ghosts in it? Sometimes the trailer isnt clear.

8. It's not supernatural horror.
It's a little hard to describe without ruining the whole thing. To use your term, it's more of a mystery thriller with some psychological twists thrown in.

9. Psychological (literally) mystery thriller with a twist (as opposed to an olive).

5. Read the book several times, and I really loved it. I just hope the movie lives up
to it.

Good cast, great director, looks atmospheric......

6. Saw it yesterday and I also read the book a while back
I loved the movie. It was very faithful to the book.

It was tense throughout, with excellent acting performances across the board. It is also a reminder of the horrors of war and how they follow a person long after it's over. I also thought it was an interesting take at the care of the mentally ill throughout the years (the movie takes place in 1954), from the brutally abusive 19th century, to the early 20th century and the advent of lobotomy and, later, pharmaceutical agents.

I thought it was a terrific movie, tense and dramatic, and I wish it had come out in 2009 in time for Oscar consideration.

12. Saw it yesterday also. I found it very Hitchcock-esque

I am informed by my ex wife that it is a great book as are all of the writer's works that she has read. She has good taste in books usually, so I'll have to give him a read. I find relatively few fiction writers readable.

15. It reminded me of Hitchcock too in the vertigo parts
I liked it. The movie was different. It reminded me of a lot of movies from the 50's only in moody color. I felt it had a lot of atmosphere and it felt edgy and nervous. Real and unreal just like the plot.

16. If you go in not expecting it to be a genre movie it doesn't suck.
No one can really pin down what kind of movie it is. Is it a phsychological thriller? A murder mystery? A horror film?

It's none of these and all of these. It will hold your attention whether you like it or not.

17. I kind of liked the ending
It's different than what you would expect from someone making a free choice. I saw it as a free choice.
