Ace Frehley runner up. Slash a third place contender.

Why? Short of The Edge, I can't listen to most of the music any of the included guitarists in the poll played.

Robin Trower is one I haven't. BUT - to even try to choose...no way, too many styles, too many "gods"

I love them all. The guitar and its relatives send me.

38. Jimmy Page and Jimmi Hendrix
Page tops as the greatest riff-writer of all time. Hendrix's playing still sounds creative and original to this day.

By comparison, Clapton is a boring copycat who did little more than introduce standard blues riffs to white, British audiences. Easily the most overrated guitar player of all time.

39. We really need a second poll for the post-classic rock era.
Guitar playing changed so much that it's hard to compare modern players to the earlier innovators. Tom Morello, Dan Auerbach and Jack White are my modern favorites.

Normally, I wouldn't endeavor to pick a "greatest" guitar player in a world of infinite styles, but I've been digging on Warren for a few years now and he never disappoints, whether he's with ABB or Govt' Mule, I've just never heard him play anything that wasn't really good IMO.
