1. perhaps with a different writer the new one won't SUCK
like the other ones did.

But then again, it has Tom Cruise, who can't act even when he's playing a boring emotionless idiot, so it likely will still suck.

2. Tom might as well do these kind of movies.
He's NEVER going to get recognized as a serious actor ("The Last Samurai" was supposed to be the role that would get him an Oscar).

So, he might as well do these action movies. He doesn't have to overexert himself, acting wise, and he gets a shitload of money doing it.

4. Didn't you get the memo
Hollywood is not allowed to try any new ideas. Market research shows that the Mission Impossible brand name and Tom Cruise are proven box office draws. Its money in the bank. There is no need to risk any capital.

5. I'm in the minority....
I didn't mind the first two. Thought the first was quite good, in fact. The second wasn't great, but it was an enjoyable action flick.

6. Of the first 2, 0.95 was very good...
...up until the point where it is revealed who the bad guy is... Phelps, the boss from the early series! That's like doing a Star Trek movie and making Kirk become a Romulan double agent and be killed by the pretty face du jour who becomes the new captain of the Enterprise -- only this time no one else in the ship gets heroic focus, only Mr. Pretty Face.

7. Darabont must've really taken a hit with "The Majestic"
to be stooping to this kind of pap. I actually enjoyed the first one, but the second was just complete shit. "Narc" was a great movie but likewise, hard to imagine Carnahan's sensibilities gelling with an MI movie.

8. I hated the first one
especially when it became all about Tom Cruise. Mission Impossible is supposed to be about a group of experts all working together. What a waste of a chance for a great ensemble showcase. Never saw the second movie.
