2. OUtlook has a lot more bells and whistles than Express...
but it's things like calendar, scheduling, etc, which I don't use, so I use Express. Takes up less memory, and is easy to use.

3. Outlook has more features.
For basic e-mail Express is OK, though.

4. Outlook comes with a lot more security holes
Express is just crap. Full Outlook is actual shit.

It's all on what you want, really, in a terrible, security-hole laden, unusable product that will manage your email more than you wish it did, and not manage it less than you would prefer.

I suggest skipping both and going with a good email program like The Bat! or Pegasus.

The Bat! is what I've used for years - no security problems, doesn't show HTML email (which eliminates a lot of problems) and it's so customizable, and so powerful, it will leave you speachless; and yet at the same time, it's very easy to use if all you want is basic email.

The Bat! can be gotten here:

I've never used Pegasus, but I hear very good things about it, even from people on the Bat! email lists I'm on. I am a total evangelist for the Bat!, and I wish more people would go with it - it would eliminate all those damn forwarded emails with 900 headers on 'em, it would prevent a lot of security problems, and all my emails from people would actually thread properly, be formatted properly, and it would get people to stop using that damn HTML email.

5. I would never use Outlook for email
I do use it as my information manager -- calendar/to do list/contacts/notes/etc. I like it very much for that. It synchronizes well with my PDA and it's easy to use. There's probably something better, but I already had this.

Like Rabrrrrrr, I would never use it as my email client. Too many viruses and worms are made to attack it. I agree with Rabrrrrrr on The Bat!, but that's probably since I'm the one who introduced him to it. there's a bit of a learning curve, but not too bad, and it's such a powerful program that it's worth spending some time with.

Not free, but only about $30, which is very reasonable for what it is.
