9. I'm torn.

I now live in a small mountain village surrounded by people, which I really like. I love hearing people's voices, their animals, their cars coming and going. I need the country and solitude too, which is easily found here.

But I also really love the city. I have lived in LA and Chicago for extended periods, in apartments mostly. After growing up in the country, it always surprises me how much I love urban life.

I also lived in Fez, Morocco for awhile in the Jewish quarter of the Old City, which is very densely populated. I loved it.

2. Far...far...far.

I live in a rural area now for the last 12 and a half years where all the neighbors are at least a quarter mile from door to door in any direction.

I could never live in such close quarters again with people as I did when I lived in a city. It would drive me mad.

Right now, I have the world's best and I'm happy having my front door 20 feet or so from their front door. Everyone should be as lucky as I am!
