NBC shells out buckets of cash to license The Beatles' "Get Back" to pimp Leno's return
Last month, NBC Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin told EW.com that the network would trumpet Jay Leno's move back to late night with "with some humor and a wink, not a sledgehammer. We will certainly be more subtle." But it's pretty clear NBC's hopeful vision is a reunion whose awesomeness rivals that rainstorm scene in "The Notebook." Just take a gander at the network's new promo.

Riffing on the original campaign that featured Leno roaring triumphantly into primetime, the host now zooms back to the 11 p.m. slot to the strains of the Beatles' none-too-cheap-to-purchase-the-rights-of "Get Back." What could be subtler than that? Maybe only if Leno's license plate had read "UP YRS COCO."

1. The Beatles
Or as Jay Leno's demographic refer to them, "those long-haired, British punks who knocked Johnny Mathis off the charts".

"You know, it's just that people like this... you know... they get all they want so they really don't understand, you know... about a life like Frank's. I mean, when you've loved and lost the way Frank has, then you, uh, you know what life's about."

5. Talk about throwing good money after bad!
The Tonight Show is a doomed franchise now, and throwing more cash at it isn't going to change a thing.

7. I get your point, but... Glenn Beck?
GAK! I'd rather shave my ass with a cheese grater then sit in a bowl of lemon juice rather than watch Beck!

11. What steams my grits is NBC will pound money down that
rat hole, but it lets a great series like Kings die because it didn't make enough money.

Assholes.

13. It's rather disgusting to compare the amountof money Conan spent
during his last few shows and the promo money NBC is spending now to the amounts sent to Haiti! They should all be ashamed!
