E-mail experts: HELP! I sent out an important e-mail and it got kicked
back! It said that my server creates too much spam. And that it was refusing to send my e-mail. How is this MY fault? I was sending my resume and references to a potential employer. How do I overcome the kick-back? Help please, thanks.

2. Do you have an alternate email address?
The other server is blocking your email because of what someone else is doing. It's not your fault, but I'd maybe set up a quick free email address somewhere and see if that will work. Otherwise you probably have to convince their hosts that your email should go through, and that will just be a pain.

3. It possibly IS your fault
Run a virus AND an ad-aware scan. You may have a trojan sending spam from your email account without you ever knowing it.

4. You probably got tagged by a spammer
They are bouncing spam off your system. You may have a virus or you have a poorly protected Email server. Unbeknownst to you your system is sending out a ton of spam.

5. Another possibility

Your server (or ISP's server) may be on a relay blocking list. There are several organizations that the owner of an email server can use to check to see if something is being sent through what's called an open relay (which could potentially be the server you're sending mail through). If this is found to be the case, then the mail will be denied delivery. (I have my own email server configured this way; it's easy to configure any email server to be relatively secure).

The only way around that is for the admin to first secure their server and then get it removed from that blocked list.

The other suggestions are good ones---if the need is immediate, I'd get a free email account, probably through yahoo. And if you own the server you're trying to send email through, please secure it.

Good luck.
