Ok my parents were kinda into bob dylan so the first song I recall knowing all the words too was Rainy Day Woman.
Ever before nursery songs.Second was don mccleans american pie.

1. "Happy Birthday to You"
Of course, that's not the most lyrically challenging song ever written.

:-)

5. Oh, My Papa
I was just a little squirt; Eddie Fisher recorded the song and it was quite popular. My mom and dad told me I started singing before I started talking.

12. "If I'd known you were coming, I'd a baked a cake"
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 01:08 PM by starroute
I took dance lessons for a few months when I was three, and they taught us a little dance with hand gestures to go with the song. I figured it was just some kiddie thing, and it wasn't until was many years later that I learned it had actually been a hit at the time. The lyrics weren't exactly challenging:

If I'd known you were coming, I'd a baked a cake
Baked a cake, baked a cake
If I'd known you were coming, I'd a baked a cake
How d'ya do, how d'ya do, how d'ya do

If I'd known you were coming, I'd a hired a band
Grandest band in the land
etc.

On edit -- remembered a little more:

Now I don't know where you come from
And I don't know where you've been
But it really doesn't matter
Grab a chair and fill your platter
And dig, dig, dig right in

22. I know that one! (Lyrics)
Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty.
Anything ragged or rotton or rusty.
Yes, I love trash.

I have here a sneaker that's tattered and worn.
It's all full of holes and the laces are torn...
A gift from my mother the day I was born.
I love it because it's trash.

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty.
Anything ragged or rotton or rusty.
Yes, I love trash.

I have here some newspaper thirteen months old.
I've wrapped some fish inside it, it's smelly and old.
But I wouldn't trade it for a big pot o' gold!
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty.
Anything ragged or rotton or rusty.
Yes, I love trash.

I've a clock that won't work,
And an old telephone.
A broken umbrella, a rusty trombone...
And I am delighted to call them my own!
I love them because they're trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty.
Anything ragged or rotton or rusty.
Yes, I love, I love, I love trash!
