Who has cowlicks?

I can't and I do. I noticed Rachel Maddow seems to have her hair parted on the other side tonight, or maybe I'm whacked. (Yes, actually I am). So, can you? Oh, and any suggestions on cowlicks since I cut my hair short would be greatly appreciated. I have them not only on the bangs, but everywhere.

3. That was helpful.
I love the hearts and hate the hearts. They will be gone soon. Could you answer then?
The lounge was where I thought I could post about cowlicks. Maybe I should try the hairdressers forum? Is there one?

8. I haven't cut my hair in more than 25 years BUT
back then you had the choice of hair spray or just wetting it down and combing it in place. Now there are all kinds of products - gels and mousses and creams and sprays...

I use a pen, pencil, tail of a rat-tail comb or something similar to redo my part when it gets wacky.

11. I want to do nothing. I don't wear make-up, because I can't
see (lazy and lazy-eye), and I cut my hair because, due to a pending divorce, I finally could.

Thank you for your tips.

2. 'whenever' is relative ... what if I want to change it whilst wearing a helmet?
Edited on Mon Feb-15-10 10:05 PM by qnr
I left to answer the phone. But yeah, I have a cowlick ... and I can change my part, but with difficulty.

4. DU members are not qualified to give professional advice.
Please consult your local haircare professional for appropriate suggestion.

5. There's a RULE: Males are supposed to part on the LEFT, wimmin on the RIGHT .
Edited on Mon Feb-15-10 10:35 PM by UTUSN
That's because ALL males are right handed and are supposed to REACH over the entire top of their heads and PULL the hair the other way.

Those of us who have a COWLICK on the WRONG side of the head are SCREWN!1 This means that if you have to part the deal from the OPPOSITE side of the cowlick, it's TROUBLE!1

But here's the solution: Fergit the rules. Where the cowlick IS, that's where you start the PART!1

Funny you should ASK, and THANKS for asking!1

13. I never understood that rule.
Just like the buttons-on-the-left-side-of-the-shirt rule. What uptight fashion victim came up with these things?

21. The button thing
is from when rich women had their servants dress them.Putting the buttons on the left made it easier for the servant to fasten them.

9. I feel your pain, my heart-filled sister.
I should part my hair on the right because my hair is thicker on that side and it would even it out better, but for some reason (waves? not cowlicks) it just doesn't work. I try to do it and I have to change it after a few minutes because it feels like I've got my shirt on backwards or something...odd. TMI?

10. I can change the part in my hair but only when it's wet.
Otherwise it hurts. Not sure if that helps you. And doesn't everyone have cowlicks to one degree or another?

12. My hair is like Little Orphan Annie's....
I have nothing but cowlicks. (Actually, curly hair comes from the roots forming in flat follicles). Fascinating, ain't it?

16. Uh
I have bangs, my cowlicks are all in my bangs, it makes them easier to control. At least that's what I tell myself every time I decide not to let them grow out  (I've had bangs since I've had hair). . . And yes, I can change my part to either side, mostly because I forgot which side the hairdresser told me my natural part was.

19. I am experimenting with all this too
When I was a teenager, my hair dresser told me I had a "natural part" that I had to sort of obey, and always part it on that side.

But since then, I have experimented all around, and just this year grown a not so great goatee, but am playing around.

I can't tell truly from the feedback what people think or whether they are just trying to be nice.

Sometimes I just think, stubbornly: I don't care what anybody thinks, I will try this or that with my hair. I can almost never tell what anybody thinks.
