Does anyone care LESS about the Olympics than me?
I was going to tell you how much I don't care about the Olympics, but I find that .... well,

I just don't care to.

DH set the alarm clock last night to be able to see the opening ceremony on TV live over here in Europe. This will go on for the next - what is it? - two weeks.... Groan.

6. I'm certainly a contender. I rank it one tiny notch above the Super Bowl.
I won't be shocked if they add Team Farting and Projectile Vomiting to the games.

and then it dissipates. Cause of the meds I'm on I'm sure. What a pain. I'll try and watch figure skating though.

It is hard to relate to the winter olympics coming from Texas.

18. I think I have to agree with you
I especially loved the team events-volleyball, water polo, soccer, Basketball. I was riveted by rowing, swimming, track and field, and diving. Staying up late during the games are great because that's when they got into the rowing, other team events, instead of just gymnastics and track and field during the prime time slots.

I love international sporting events on a whole, but yeah, the winter olympic events don't hold my attention as much as the summer olympics, the World Cup or even the World Baseball Classic.

20. The Winter Olympics have advents many of us woud never do or relate to.
I still will watch the Winter Olympics a little but not the same as the Summer Olympics.

Just a few countries do really well, the small cold ones.

With the Summer Olympics every country has a chance.

19. I would likely watch them IF:
There were no commentators (and no comments!)
There were no commercials.
There were no sob stories and endless biographies.
There was no USA-centric emphasis.
And, all of the games were presented to us in the same way the spectators get to view them, i.e., live, with the only announcing going on for who's up next and what their score was.

Is that so much to ask? :P

21. You have to watch the coverage on CNBC or MSNBC
I hope they expand their coverage to those channels like they did during the Summer games. In the summer, they put all the team and less popular events on those channels and covered them like ESPN would, no sob stories, etc.

the US-centric aspect is so odd, acting like anything that any other culture does is bizarre and making infantilizing comments about that culture. The commentators are often so vapid. It's tedious.

They're a beautiful mountain range, and home to the only temperate rain forest in the U.S. They're home to an amazing ecosystem too.
