Bible Dipping
What you do is this...

Ask a question...something that you might ask a Magic 8 ball for example.

Put your right hand on the outside cover of a bible and say a prayer. Close your eyes. Open the bible to a random page. Then, still with your eyes closed, point with your finger to a place on a page.

The word you land on is the answer to your question. There is some interpretation that comes into play here. For example, if you land on the word "strength" this might mean that something will happen for you if you work hard at it. "Harvest" might mean that if you wait long enough, the thing that you want will happen.

Try it. It's complete nonsense but I've found it has a fair degree of accuracy. It's like talking to God.

1. Heresy I say!
Using the bible as a fortune telling device. Next thing you'll be denying the existence of God! ;)

2. Also works with Dumbya's "autobiography"
Just more proof that God and Dumbya are working together.

4. a friend who is a bishop and a first-rate Bible scholar . . .
gave a sermon recently and used "Bible dipping" as an example of how things can be taken out of context . . . the story was about a forlorn man who had lost all hope and decided to let the Bible tell him what to do . . . so he opened it to a random page and let his finger fall on a line of text . . . turns out that particular line described someone taking his own life . . .

figuring that the passage wasn't especially helpful, he decided to try again . . . he opened the Bible, plunked his finger down, and read "Go ye therefore and do the same" (or something like that; a Bible scholar I'm not) . . .

anything, my friend said, can be taken out of context . . . :)

5. I thought you meant like coffee and donuts...
:donut:

Well, that would make it a bit more palatable - at least to me.

6. It needs a Ouija board
...with a little magnifying glass attached (for accuracy).
