I'm a new uncle today...

I'm a first time uncle as of this morning. I have a wonderful little niece to watch grow up.

It's a great feeling to have a baby in the family.

... so, of course, my niece and nephew absolutely LOVE me.

. When she was about 4 or 5, my niece and I were coloring on the floor
within earshot of her mom. She had stopped and was just staring at me in a
puzzled way. I let her figure it out and eventually she asked, "Uncle
Middlefingermommy... you're... ... ... different, aren't you?

. My sister dropped the dish she was washing and laughed her ass off.
I just said, "Yes... ... ..., yes I am."
.
To this day, I still think it's one of the nicest compliments I've ever gotten.

This from the niece who explained why she always gave me her mostly-used
B-list coloring books by saying, "Uncle Middlefingermommy... you don't always
stay within the lines."
