The toilet clogged this afternoon just before Alley and I headed for our usual superbowl party. After being stared down for suggesting that I could take care of it tomorrow, I went off to home depot for the wax gaskets and a short piece of plywood to re-bed our throne. I had tore out the floor to re-tile to bathroom, a project that was put on hold due to the constant rains we have had lately. The old sub-flooring is cheap particle board, and I left what was supporting the toilet. I guess I undermined the sub-floor because the toilet was a little shakey. I figured that the movement shifted the wax seals that sit under toilets and all I would have to do is re-bed with a temporary plywood base and that would take care of the clog and meet Alley at our friend house by the 2nd quarter; Wrong!
I returned to home depot and rented the 75' snake. Plumbers don't get paid enough. Even though I ran the entire length of the snake I failed to clear the 4" pipe. Now in the dark I went around to the side of the house and ran same 75' snake down the nearest "down stream" clean out. There was definitely a clog that got cleared from the clean out. I went back to my bathroom and filled the drain pipe with the toilet tank supply hose and the f'en clog is still there. I quit at 10pm and now I'm stumped. The 75' snake had to have met and passed the junction that our drain meets with the kitchen pipe that is serviced by the clean out pipe on the side of the house. I have to have the snake back at home depot by 9am and I still haven't figured where the clog is.
Final score: Toilet bowl 1, denbot 0.
