3. it's Seagate, what did you expect?
The drive hardware will be great, the USB and enclosure hardware will come from a cheap third party, and the software will be awful.

Unless Seagate has made some changes in the last few years.

You know, that's actually one of the major reasons Seagate bought Maxtor. Maxtor's One-Touch backup software has always been pretty close to perfect. (Nothing does what I can do with scripting, but hey, what'cha gonna do?)

5. I bought this 500gb Seagate Freeagent Go about a year ago
Its been a twitchy little bitch since I've owned it. Reads when it feels like it etc. Now when I try to plug it in it just buzzes and does nothing. I fucking hate this thing!

6. When you eventually replace it,
assuming you do so in the relatively near future, I suggest a maxtor OneTouch 4. Sure, they're only 1TB instead of 2, but I've had many clients say good things about them.

4. We just got an iOmega Home Network 1 Terabyte backup -
The firmware still hasn't been upgraded to handle Windoz 7. We have to wait until tomorrow to see where we can get the driver upgrades.

7. Just pull the drive from the case & install it in the computer.
The drive is still fine. Use it and junk the rest.
