Roomba owners - happy with yours?
I have 60 pounds of terrified cats under my desk because of the s.o. vacuuming, and I was idly wondering how loud a Roomba is, and whether it works on bare floors as well as carpet. Feedback?

1. Don't have one
but with the many YouTube videos of cats RIDING one I get the idea they are not as traumatic for cats to be around.

2. Absolutely love it. And the cats got used to it very quickly.
I'm sure you have seen the myriad Youtubes of cats riding them around. Mine don't do that but after a few days they went "meh" and ignored it. It's not as loud, or really as effective, as a vacuum, but it does a good job of getting up dust bunnies and dirt and we run it at night when we're upstairs asleep. You do have to clean the rolers pretty often but it would be the same on a vacuum.

3. I watch the videos and it moves so randomly I would think it actually leaves a lot of gunk behind.

4. Had one a few years back.
Worked best on bare floors, IIRC. Not too loud, the dogs mostly ignored it.

Speaking of which, two Siberian Huskies. The Roomba ultimately did not survive the fur storm. But it lasted a couple of years, after which I sold it for parts on eBay for 80% of what I spent on it.

5. Very happy with mine!
I have 3 cats and they get used to it. Roomba is somewhat loud on hard floors and a little quieter on carpet. It will adjust itself to various surfaces on its own. It goes under furniture with approx. 4-5" clearance and gets the corners well. It doesn't replace a deep vacuuming, but it works great to run everyday. You can check Amazon for customer reviews too. You will be surprised how much dust, dirt and cat liter it will pick-up!

My best advice if you get one it to clean the unit well after each use. :)
