ISO off key Christmas carols.
About 25 years ago radio station WLAC in Nashville (now gone) used to play these funny Christmas carols every year. It was somebody playing a piano and they would keep hitting wrong notes but just keep on playing - kind of like suffering through a kid's piano recital. They were really pretty hysterical and we looked forward to them every year. I have no idea if this was just a local thing or if other stations carried them (before the day of one company owning everybody). My husband and I have said several times we wished we could get that CD but I don't know if such a thing exists. I think you would probably have to have a good deal of talent to pull off playing so badly but who knows. Anybody know of anything like this out there? (Besides your kid playing the piano.)

1. Darlene and Jonathan Edwards
put out a few LPs in the early '60s. One of them may have had Christmas carols.

Darlene Edwards was actually Jo Stafford. She was hilarious.

She's legitimate, and she's totally awful.

It's not parody music, it's not intentionally off-key, it's music that the performer and others think is actually really good. But it is totally off-key, and also really poorly performed.

And she has a Christmas CD.

6. I'm glad you like it!
(so to speak)

Let's just hope she never tries to tackle that high-pitched "Loving You" song.

ouch!

3. Ever heard of Florence Foster Jenkins?
I don't think she recorded Christmas carols, but she did recitals of opera arias, and she was horrible!
