Post something about yourself that you would otherwise think is silly.
For example, today, in my ever-so-exciting life, I went to Target and I was excited to see a line of Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic stuff.

Another example, was that we had two excellent parent teacher conferences for my Kindergartner and second grader. I'm proud to have spawned my geniuses, they're silly and loud, but still geniuses. Plus, I get to visit preschool with my youngest tomorrow and he's very excited. :)

I doubt any of this really matters to anyone else and it's nothing deep or thought-provoking, but it's me nonetheless.

What did you do today that you wouldn't otherwise post about?

1. I'm pleased as punch about my coming paycheck!
I work as a dealer in a small Vegas casino, and it's NOT one of the good ones where the dealers make $70k or more a year. Hell, far from it. BUT, with Spring Break and March Madness and the resulting heavy traffic I should end up grossing over $800 for 43 hours of work. That's nearly twice the average. Of course the whole thing will be eaten up by about $600 in much-needed auto repairs....

I have a poem I just made up for you:

SarahBelle, SarahBelle
Tells all fundies
Go to hell!
SarahBelle, SarahBelle
Grooms my yaks
When they smell!

We all love
The populist mother
Who now goes by a new
Name or another
SarahBelle that would be
Who loves yaks, roses,
And chic that is shabby!

And got teased by the goddaughter of Tom Ridge (so I'm told she is) that it was the "most awful shirt." I informed her that this is one of my MILDER shirts!

What else did I do? Attended three classes and studied in the library. A professor approached me about working for him this summer to get a couple of credits. Watched "American Idol" tonight. Am now reading 33 pages of Civil Rights Litigation (YAWN), then watching my nightly doses of "Seinfeld" and "King of the Hill." Then it's off to bed for 5 hours of sleep and back at it tomorrow!

Good night, all!

I did the same thing. ;)

I've got the patch on as well, which helps with the cravings (somewhat)...what it decidedly does NOT help with is the downtime thing...like, ok, I just had dinner...now what do I do with myself in the interim 5 minutes that I *used* to smoke, before getting on with whatever it is I need to be doing, y'know? I'm all off kilter and out of step with myself. I'm sure it'll get better with time, at least I hope so...

I smoked a pack a day when I first got pregnant and quit right away- for 8 years! Then I had the stressful teaching job from Hell that precipated a career change and started up again, but only about 3-5 day (only smoked outside), then got pregnant a year later and quit for a year and a half. I started up again, still at 3-5 a day. Finally, last July, it just hit me that I didn't want to smoke anymore. I felt guilty about it and it just wasn't me, so I quit. Occasionally if I drink I crave one, but overall, I'm doing pretty good these days.

Continued best of wishes of your quest for healthy lungs! :toast:

to get a spare key made. I kept asking employees to make me a key (there's a sign on the machine saying not to operate it yourself), but they just kept telling me which aisle it was in. So I went there and figured it out myself and got yelled at by a manager for doing so. Great service.

Then I got the spare key stuck in my ignition. And.... yea, shoulda sprung for a better blank.

It's neat, but since it's not in English I barely understand any of it...how messed is that? On the other hand, it's a great incentive to study more Hebrew!

(I also have music in French, which I sort of understand, German, which I understand slightly more than Hebrew because of all the cognates in it, and Urdu, which I understand none of. I just like foreign music!)

70. But the IMPORTANT question is . . .
was he succesful?

And should Zomby include that incident in his poem?

75. Makes me think of a scene in The World According to Garp
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 08:22 AM by SarahBelle
(One of my favorite novels and movies.)
Garps's wife is asking her graduate students to write down anonymously why they chose her course. One student hands in a paper that states, "From the moment a saw you, I knew I wanted to be your lover." Bad things happen to the poor, young dude later when he becomes her lover though.

I hear you. I'm blessed with young face genes (and live a simple, healthy lifestyle which contributes to it too), and every so often, I get that too. Big ego boost. :bounce:

76. Oh, those are good.
I probably eat one every 5 years or so (that and Snowballs), but oh yum, sweet, sugary food-like substance. :P

79. I got my "This Machine Kills Fascists" T shirt yesterday.
I ordered it from 99dogs.com, and it was custom made.

There was a neat graphic of people voting on the front. On the back, it said "THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS", and had a picture of a ballot box.

I am hoping it pisses neo-con republicans off.

I'll wear it to the gym tonight!

80. You'd better get extra pumped up
Just in case any of those good old boys takes offense. :D I've got a nice socialist t-shirt and a breastfeeding advocacy one that manages to piss people off enough.

81. I'm kinda hoping some asshole neo-con freeper takes offense
and tries to pick a fight.

I'd love a legally defensible opportunity to kick the living shit out of one of them.

Yes, I hold a frightening amount of unfocused rage. It's just looking for a target.

82. I throw birthday parties for all of my pets
My 2 cats have the same birthday (but born 2 years apart) so that's one party, and 2 of my 3 dogs share a birthday too. Yesterday at work I mentioned the upcoming dog birthday, and my coworkers thought it was weird. I hadn't really considered that.

Ahh, Applied and Engineering Physics 321-322: Mathematical physics.

Good times! (No, I didn't say that sarcastically. Yes, I'm serious.)

88. The only thing worse than physics
is math and physics in the same class. Fortunately, I'm only a bio major and have to take calculus 1 and physics two different years. On the brighter side, I get to take organic chemistry. Yippee!!

86. I had a Thrift Store High yesterday
Found an almost new all-cotton shirt - made in Pakistan no less - for &1.99, plus heavy duty cotton gym shorts for $2.49. I get much more satisfaction and joy from such finds than blue-haired Jaguar ladies spending $2000 at "Leather Luggage Is Me."

I feel really happy that my cafeteria had good, fresh veggies for my salad.

My chemistry lab got canceled.

And a personal relationship is moving along quite nicely. I like him, and he likes me. :)

89. I love Target
I went yesterday and picked up Clarke's book, the new Indigo Girls CD, a new picture frame, and Pounce for the kittens.

I am dieting and just lost my first 10 pounds, and decided I'd buy a season of Sex and the City for every 10 pounds I lost. If all goes according to plan I'll be 60 pounds lighter by the end of the year, and own the entire series.
