This might help you if you have trouble watching YouTube videos because your machine and/or connection is slow:

The "Feather" project is intended to serve YouTube video watch pages with the lowest latency possible. It achieves this by severely limiting the features available to the viewer and making use of advanced web techniques for reducing the total amount of bytes downloaded by the browser. It is a work in progress and may not work for all videos.

Mind you, you have to have a Google account to take advantage of Feather. As well, if you're on dial-up, Feather won't make videos stream on demand. On dial-up, I still had to let the entire video load before I was able to watch it. The point is, that without Feather, letting the entire video load on dial-up was impossible. With Feather it became possible.
