My little Tui had a reaction to his shots this morning
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 05:39 AM by Solly Mack
We weren't home 5 minutes before bumps began popping up all over his head and face. I put him in his carrier and shoved him and my husband out the door and back to the vet. I was in no condition to go back.

My husband called from the vet just a minute ago and she is giving Tui some Benadryl. He said the vet will monitor him for a few hours.

So far, so good.

I'm still worried sick. Waiting on the next call...

Thanks for listening

2. Thank you, Heidi.
Was just on the phone with my husband. Bumps were traveling down Tui's back by the time he got to the vets. He's had benadryl and a steroid - his little face was swollen. My husband said the swelling was starting to go down and the bumps were disappearing. Still going to monitor Tui for a bit longer. The vet said the reaction was akin to the hives. Seems Tui will have to take benadryl prior to future vaccinations.

Give Ginger a nuzzle for me.

I feel so guilty.

Thank you again!!

3. Please don't feel guilty.
I bet Tui wouldn't want that! Humans, cats, dogs can suddenly develop an allergy, and neither you nor the vet could have known this would happen. And besides, the benadryl before the next shots probably will calm your Tui down for the ride to the vet. (Ginger hates the ride to the vet a thousand times more than he hates the shots or his doc.)

6. I'm so glad he's better, Solly.
He's way too cute to have anything go wrong with him.

7. Hey, hippywife. Thanks!
He's sitting under my chair right now, nipping at my toes...having snoozed on and off most of the day.

:)
