all the other food I ate that day (meat & vegetables) make me gain weight.

9. What you do one time won't make much difference.
It's what you do on a daily basis, day in, day out, that really determines your health and weight.

2. You don't need tough love. You need a better diet.
One that isn't based on convincing your body it's starving while eating horrifically unhealthy crap, where the world won't end if you eat a damned cupcake.

I feel I'm certainly eating more healthily than I was before I started this diet (I'd binge on ice cream, jellybeans and ****. Thanks for the kick in that pants.

6. I'm sorry, but that's not healthy. You need to go talk to a nutritionist.
Diets don't work. You need to learn how to eat correctly for the long term, and Atkins is ghastly unhealthy even if you manage to stick with it, which almost nobody does.

13. low or reduced carb doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy crap
Too many people think of low-carb as the bacon cheeseburger diet, without the bun, which is flat out wrong.

For some of us, our bodies work best when we limit starchy carbs. Nutrition isn't a one-size fits all game, no matter what some people think.

31. Thanks!
For dinner tonight, I had a huge caesar salad (homemade dressing) with a very nice piece of grilled salmon. Of course, I'm not conforming to her vegan ideals, nor her misconceptions of a low carb lifestyle, so I guess I'm and evil person.

10. How many? How many did you eat? Over how much time?
If I deny myself something I really want, I eventually go overboard, too. Usually to balance out a no-no like yours (and like the buncha jelly beans I just ate), I eat 100% healthy and eat less all the next day -- the total of something like a meal and a half. I let my tummy growl, and that's how I know what's in there is getting used up. Not scientific, but it works. Also, ya gotta work out. Makes all the difference. Don't sweat enjoying your favorite treats once in a while. No big deal.

One sorta diet I like that's easy is to have nothng but veggies for dinner. With just a little butter or dressing, if it's a salad. Then I go brush and floss my teeth and don't eat until breakfast the next day. That will melt the pounds away and make sure I get my 5 a day.

You'll be fine! Don't worry. Good luck.

12. Dear Applegrove, you do not need a kick or tough love.
You need to find a food program that lets you eat what you want to eat, in reasonable, managable quantities.

If you need cupcakes in your life (and who doesn't?) it is not realistic to think that you are never going to eat another one, ever again!

You shouldn't feel like you are doing something *bad* when you eat the foods you love. This only makes you feel like you've failed, and will eventually lead to loss of motivation and giving up.

As others have said, find a plan that works for you. Don't try to squeeze yourself into something that doesn't fit your needs.

Hang in there, I know what you are going through.

17. Three most fattening words in English: "I can't have..."
It was too late to edit my post, so I'm adding here.

Once you eliminate something from your diet that you love, and you tell yourself you "I can't have (insert beloved item here)." You set yourself up for failure. You find yourself thinking about it all the time. You eat substitutes, but aren't satisfied. You finally binge on the forbidden item, and your diet goes out the window.

Instead, tell yourself, "I can have one small cupcake." Or, "I will have a cupcake as a special treat on Friday." Or, "I could have a cupcake, but I choose to have a fat free yogurt instead." This gives yourself power over your desires, and builds confidence. Confidence leads to success in weight loss. These are all lessons I've learned the hard way.

Hope this helps. If not, please feel free to tell me to stop.

16. +1
"Diets" really don't work.

But tiny lifestyle changes work wonders. Don't eliminate anything all together. Simply remember that there are foods that you should be eating every day, and there are foods you should enjoy once in a while.

If you constantly deprive yourself, you're more likely to "binge".

One day a week, eat one meal that you might consider "off your diet" and also have a dessert. Make sure you turn the meal into something special. Use a fancy dish, eat by candlelight. Chew slowly and savor every bite.

Then let it go and continue on with your week.

15. Look at it as though you're looking from the outside.
I manage a chocolate shop and we have a gal who comes in after her weigh-ins. Sometimes she loses weight, sometimes not. She always buys 4 bon-bons and this last time she also got a large wicked hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant too. I could only marvel at it. That was quite a binge for one sitting. She must deprive herself through the week and then, when she does indulge, she way over-does it. I see it clearly but she, being the one on the inside and dealing with the emotional part of it, doesn't.

Being as we (my co-workers and I) are around the stuff all day every day, obviously we could indulge all we want. We really don't eat that much. I probably do the most but I don't have much throughout the day. Always have a croissant in the am when I get hungry and maybe a couple of bon-bons throughout the day. Many who come in ask how come I am thin and I am surrounded by this stuff all day, it's because of moderation, not abstinence.

Julie

29. See, that's the problem with Atkins and similar diets.
You feel deprived and hungry, and one day you snap like a dry twig and devour all those forbidden carbs and then you feel like you need an ass-kicking, which you don't. Atkins is effective, for awhile (I did it, too, and lost a fair amount of weight, until my doc chewed my ass and explained to me how unhealthy it was and that it was going to clog my arteries and kill me). But it's not good for the long term because you just can't stay on it. Better to take it slow, eat less over all, have smaller portions of everything, and even a cupcake now and then.

its called JAPANESE SWEETS.. I had read about how Japanese Bakers and Chefs went to France to study how to make chocolates, cakes, pies and pastries. This place appears to have all of that.

They seem to take what they learn and make it just a bit better. I look forward to going but I may have to leave my money at home, cause I know how things can spin out of control for me, and sweets!
