How many people are on drugs?
I'll be honest - I haven't even taken a Motrin in the last 5 years, and yet I get the feeling everyone around me is medicated.
I can see it in your eyes.

p.s. - Don't hate me because I lead a pure life.

Quickly gives me a case of "baby brain" when I have to schedule everything around hourly feedings! Swallows are even harder: they've got to be filled up every fifteen minutes. And I shudder for the poor souls who have to raise hummingbirds.

Here's a picture of my cockatoo!

My boy Rex went downhill after I fixed him up with a girl, got all territorial, they laid eggs and I had to endure the swooping atttacks - gave them a whole room with open cages.

Sex ruins everything for dinosaurs. I miss my boy.

82. We had a cockatiel exactly like
Rex. His name was Alvin.

Alvin learned to imitate every outside bird within his hearing range. He was amazing. He would bob his head vigorously when he recited his entire repertoire. Alvin would end his performance with a perfect rendition of the Whip Poor Will.

We were heart broken when Alvin died suddenly from what we believe was bad tap water(!). An aunt's otherwise healthy Parakeet died the same day for no apparent reason.

6. Skewed is good...for the Lounge's inhabitants
I trust everyone here is as honest and pure as the spring rain that falls across our land.

And that rain will flood the streams and form a river; and alongside that river will one day grow a giant oak tree, and when that oak tree dies, it will form a bridge... and under that bridge will live a giant catfish which will then spawn all our future descendants.

Oh yeah - I've heard the legends.

Hopefully with the generous help of my sister, a panicked run to town (using gas that wasn't budgeted just for that) and the risk of issues with the check I floated it will be OK. Knock on wood!

I think that medications are great IF you really need them (and some people do).... but I believe if you can function properly without them, you are better off.

16. Just the occasional OTC pain killer
I was taking Motrin more frequently last fall, after I broke my toe. Now, I just take it, aspirin or Tylenol for achy joints. I'll do pseudoephedrine if I have a cold, as well as an expectorant, if needed. Other than that, I'm pretty lucky I don't really need anything, although I wish I had something that would keep me asleep. I have no trouble falling asleep most nights. It's staying asleep that's the problem.

I am so frugal with my Vicodin, my doctor will refill it on just a phone call from me. I even have some extra strength left over from my last surgery since I hate taking it.

Yo Ho Ho (and a Bottle of Rum)
Lyrics and Music by Allison and Waller
based on Treasure Island
by Robert Louis Stevenson

Music

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

The mate was fixed by the bosun's pike
The bosun brained with a marlinspike
And cookey's throat was marked belike
It had been gripped by fingers ten;
And there they lay, all good dead men
Like break o'day in a boozing ken
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

61. Still getting by without them
My wife sometimes tells me I need anti-depressants. We recently learned that she is terminally ill, and now I cry almost every day, but it's not like I'm crying all day. At some point, usually when I'm alone, I'll break down. I don't think this is cause for medication. When you learn that your partner of 32 years is dying, how SHOULD you respond?

She is now on anti-anxiety meds, and other stuff. Her doctors don't let her drive, so she needs me to be clear-headed at all times. No alcohol. No drugs.

75. Does ibuprofen count? It probably doesn't, but I take that regularly.
Pretty much daily thanks to work. That's all though. I used to take a few meds for depression/bipolar, but I've been off those for almost four years now.

83. I have wondered this myself
because so many people post about their illegal drug activities here, but even more post about taking sleeping pills, anti-anxiety, and so on...it seems so many people are taking them.
