donating to the service men and women over seas
The ladies Aux. I belong to will be reaching out to the local community to send a care package or a few
to send over seas.

I know about phone cards, DVD's and the individual water additives....

what else should I ask for? and has anyone ever done this???

Thanks in advance

1. This was decades back, but some things never change.
.
Maybe someone with recent experience can confirm or deny this.
.
We used to WORSHIP the ground of anyone who sent us packs of
ramen noodles (unknown in the continental U.S. during my time,
the mom of my friend from Hawaii was our pusherman) and ESPEC.
little bottles of Tabasco or other hot sauce.

2. Do not send food packed with anything else, otherwise you will have people
receiving soap flavored candy and so forth. :( Also, don't send chocolate as it will melt. Go with hard candies instead.

If you can get some kids to draw pictures and make cards, that's always a nice touch. :)

Here are some lists that might help you out:

What to send: http://operationmilitarypride.org/packages.html (Again, bear in mind the temperature of where you are sending packages to. This list may not necessarily apply to all areas where people are stationed.)

What not to send: http://www.anysoldier.com/WhatToSend.cfm#NotToSend

3. Many things
But I remember my husband asking for Easy Mac, deoderant, microwave popcorn (he had access to a microwave when he was on base), garlic salt, instant Gatorade, Kool-aid, lemonade and Chrystal Light iced tea (single use packs). Those were the things that would not normally end up on a generic list.

4. We do this at school a couple of times a year.
They always give us a big list of personal care items like deodorant, baby wipes, sunscreen, lotion, etc.

I know that beef jerky, gummy candy, Pringles, and peanuts are popular too.
