Would you date a cop?
Or would you be worried that the person might be unhinged in some ways (and they also have all the info and tools to ruin your life if things go sour)?

I don't judge a person based on their occupation. People in all occupations can become unhinged. BTW, my brother is a cop, and he's the last person who would come unhinged. And, all those tools he could use to "ruin" a person's life? He's using them to help his ex-wife clean up the mess caused by having her identity stolen.

And hey, I respect detectives and the like...just not the street cops.

65. Biggest mistake of my life was marrying a cop
After 3 years she divorced me and it had to be one of the nastiest divorces ever. I had to leave the state on advice of my lawyer and her boss the Sheriff. She lost her job because of it. Along with divorce attorney I had to hire a criminal attorney because of all of the crazy police reports she filed on me.
Date one if you must, but never, never marry one.

She was lots of fun. Knew a lot about the stupid reasons and ways people die. This was back in the days I worked for the county coroner. She was one of the most together people I've ever known. Unfortunately she lived in another state. This, of course, was a number of years ago.

In the last 5 0r so years I haven't met a single cop who could reel in his or her inner asshole. shame. there has to be a few good guys out there in blue. None of the ones I've encountered here on either side of the bay.

.
She was a sweetheart. He was a big dumbhead arrogant mean-spirited-but-incompetent-

.
I took every opportunity I had to drive him crazy with subtle reminders that I was
rambunctiously sleeping with his sister. She didn't like him, either. I think she would have encouraged her MOM to sleep with me, just so we could both torment him
with THAT... and his sister and I might still have been together to this very day...
united by the joy of reminding him about me and Mommy.
.
THAT would have been an inyerface middlefinger Mom, for sure.

I've heard WAY too many stories about cops as domestic abusers being protected by other cops.

I'm sure in most cases it's no problem, but once you've been in an abusive situation, it's hard not to look at a potential relationship without thinking about how you'll extricate yourself if things get ugly.

He was found innocent despite the person he approached being an undercover State Trooper and there being a tape with him actually asking about it...which somehow got lost. Who would have guessed?
