Help!Just signed up for Netflix, now I can't...

remember any movies I wanted to watch. Suggestions please. Looking for mostly recent movies and anything that people feel is a "must watch".

1. No movies to suggest at the moment

Online go to 'Browse Movies'. Once you do that you will see 'New Releases' right below the 'Browse' tab. You can also scroll to the bottom and you'll see genres, dramas, thrillers, etc. and you can browse. Also rate movies you already seen 1-5 stars and Netflix will actually suggest movies for you based on what you 'liked' or 'loved'.

2. Probably not for everyone

but one of the gems I found via Netflix was "I've Loved You So Long" starring Kristin Scott Thomas.

I've had a fair amount of success with the movies Netflix puts in your "Movies You'll Love" queue. Take a chance - you'll find some of the films below the radar are really worth watching.

My husband says to tell you he was really affected by "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". Not an easy one to watch though...

That's kind of what impressed both me and my husband - that the movie didn't take the easy way out... It was painful - as it should be.

5. Find a movie you know you like and look at it, and there will be other recommendations

If you look at the detail page for any movie, in the upper right it says "more like this" for recommendations of similar films, or that people with similar tastes to you liked.

Also, click on the "Movies You'll Heart" tab at the top, and there are plenty of tools there for rating movies you like, which will lead to recommendations that people with similar tastes also like.

6. I just watched 9 via Netflix

If you like Tim Burton and Computer animation that will blow your socks off, you will enjoy this film.

7. Browse through the genres and select some in the flavor you like

I would give all those an 8.5/10 or higher. Enjoy.

9. Fight Club

This is something I would have NEVER picked, but it was Saturday afternoon, and nothing else was on. Very weird movie, but I couldn't stop watching it.

Chick flicks. I are one. "You've Got Mail" and "City of Angels." yeah. yeah.

Corny macho: "Con Air." (but I liked it - love Nicolas Cage)

"The Last Samurai" (sp?)

"Bug"

"Gummo"

10. Midnight Run

Fast-paced, funny, great one-liners, great performances from Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin (plus a strong supporting cast).

11. Just saw Into the Wild, which was a little depressing, but very well done.

PS: Another recent one I really liked: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. It's kind of brilliantly made. Beautiful to look at too.

PPS: Slumdog Millionaire was ok. A little overrated.

PPPS: Man on Wire is an excellent documentary about Philippe Petit, who walked on wire between the Twin Towers when they were first built. There's barely a hint of 9/11 in the film. I liked that.

PPPPS: I have to think about the recent ones I've seen. I tend to prefer classics. You can rely on those.

PPPPPS: Revolutionary Road was pretty durn good.

PPPPPPS: Rachel Getting Married stunk!

Just start watching something, and enjoy.

I am catching up on tv shows, and I love indy type movies.
