I had a fun time in the emergency room last night. I was setting up to observe Mars and trying to get a light-proof panel out of the garage. It's a PVC frame with some wood and a sheet of black plastic. The thing got caught on something and pieces came loose. When I gave it a good yank just to get it outside, either a piece of PVC pipe or dowel swung up and hit me in my open right eye. Turns out I have a scratch on the cornea. Goddamnit! Instead of observing, I sat around with a piratical eyepatch.

The other one is 20-30. It will be all right in a few weeks.

5. I got a scratched cornea a couple of years ago

and was blind in that eye for a few weeks. Probably what you are going through. I hated it and didn't even have an interesting story to go with it.

I went for an eye exam, and got a bad eye infection. Ugh, that made me mad. There was a bunch of junk in my eye and I accidentally rubbed it. Scratched Cornea. Took me about four trips to different doctors to get that stupid infection cleared up.

My telescope is a 4" refractor so Mars is kind of a little orange dot to me. Are you trying to block a street light with that panel?

If I step out of my back door, the neighbor's garage-mounted lamps come on.

Mars is pretty tiny this year.

Arrrrrgh? Hehe. If it makes you feel any better, I burned the shit out of my finger while making oatmeal cookies tonight.

My niece stuck a pin THROUGH her eye a few weeks ago, it went all the way through her eye to the back of her eye socket. She's only three, I wonder what she was thinking when she did it. Ow!

(This is not medical advice past "if your eye starts to really fucking hurt and you can't see out of it, get to an eye doctor this instant.")

If you wake up in the next few days, you're seeing slightly gray out of that eye and your eye hurts so bad you want to rip it out to stop the pain, get your ass to the eye doctor. Right then. That will be a Bacterial Corneal Ulcer. You treat this by putting a drop of Cipro eyedrops in your infected eye every fifteen minutes, including all through the night, until the doctor tells you to stop.

Another sign of BCU: your cornea will look puffy. (I tried to find a picture of it but seriously, guys, the appearance of this will make you puke.)

This is a sight-destroying condition so if you get it, you REALLY need to get your ass to the doctor immediately.

13. Thanks, so far I'm okay.

The E-room doc gave me a referal to an eye doctor if I need it. I have to use eye drops 3x a day. Don't know if they are antiseptic or not. No more patch, either.
