Why doesn't it ever stop?
Some of you may remember that I told you all about my niece's soul-mate and how, last July, he was killed in a motorcycle accident, 3 minutes from home. He was 38. He would have been 39 on March 13th.

It has been a very rough time for her, because, after 3 disastrous relationships, he had come into her life 5 years ago, and they were absolutely meant to be with each other.

Since he died, his dog (it was her dog first, but the dog absolutely bonded with him) missed him terribly. Every time he heard a motorcycle, his head and ears picked up expectantly. Taz (that's the dog) slept with her every night. He was as much comfort to her as she was to him, and her kids, (a boy, 18, and a girl 12) loved Taz very much. I say "loved", because this afternoon, Taz was out in the yard, tethered, and he was barking, then he wasn't. He was dead.

Obviously, Taz is with his master now, but it will be very hard for her for a while.

This is NOT what she needed right now. When will it stop for her?

I need to go and have a good cry now. Thanks, DU, for being here to pour this out to you.

3. It never rains, but it pours.
Ten years ago at this time, I was in the early stages of a year-long bout with being emotional crippled after a one-two punch I had received in January 1994.

First, the woman I was involved with suddenly decided that she didn't want to be in a monogamous relationship with me after all. Two weeks after that, I got a phone call that my mother had died suddenly.

Either one of those heartaches would've been tough enough to handle; but getting them one on top of the other fucking near drove me around the bend! To this day, I don't know how I emerged from 1994 with my so-called sanity intact....

Very moving story, polmaven. I hope things do let up for your niece her kids and you. Soon.

Tender thoughts.
